Junior-Senior Banquet 1954
L
Senior Class Officers President, Jackie Mi I ler; Vice-President, Pat Thomas; Secretary, Carolyn Caviness;
Treasurer, Inez Poe; Room Representative, Ann Barber.
Class Flower:
Yellow Chrysanthemum
Many years we've worked and played
Dreams and plans were often made.
Laughs have often turned to tears
In days gone by.
Now we must say good-bye
To our friends of Goldston High
But we'll always hold dear
Every trial that we've met here.
Teachers, you have been so true
Time has come to say adieu
Future plans were laid by you
In days gone by.
Class Colors:
Confederate Gray and Yellow
Class Song Now our happy days are gone
Time has come to move along.
Memories we will hold so dear
Of days gone by.

Shirley Wilkins, Ann Barber
Carolyn Caviness
Class History At last, we conclude our twelve long years at Goldston High School. Grad¬
uation is here, and we realize that there are others waiting to take our places.
Although these years have been full of tireless days and almost unsolvable
problems, they have held many incidents and happy moments that we shall
never forget.
We can still remember the fall of 1943 when we were enrolled at Goldston
High School for the first time. As a class, we grew and developed together,
sharing acquaintances and unsurpassed friendships of all our teachers.
Finally, in 1951, we reached high school. That year we were sponsored
by our principal, Mr. G. P. Cullipher. We chose as our class officers, Pat
Thomas, President; Billy Hart, Vice President; Glenn Smith, Secretary and
Treasurer; and Larry Graham, Room Representative.
It didn't seem long before another year had passed, and we found our¬
selves constantly climbing higher. Unbelievable, but true, we were sophomores.
This time, to steer us through the year, we chose as our leaders, Betty Lou
Caudle, President; Jackie Miller, Vice President; Shirley Wilkins, Secretary and
Treasurer; and Carolyn Caviness, Room Representative. During that year, the
F. F. A., under the direction of Mr. C. O. Williford, sponsored its first Father-
and-Son Banquet, and six of our girls served. Betty Lou Caudle and Ann Barber
were also selected to marshal at the commencement exercises. Several out of
our number were athletes and joined in celebrating our first Athletics Banquet;
in addition, ten sophomores served at the Junior-Senior Banquet given that year.
Made confident through many undertakings of the previous year, as Juniors,
we were an ambitious and determined group. To get us off to a good start; we
elected Larry Graham, President; Jackie Miller, Vice President; Shelby Elkins,
Secretary and Treasurer; and Pat Thomas, Room Representative. We selected
"Rose Festival" as the theme, and honored the seniors with, what we thought,
a very beautiful banquet. Having accomplished a very successful year of work¬
ing and planning, along with the seniors, we decided to go to Florida on our
customary class trip. We enjoyed tremendously the variety of activities we
shared at Daytona Beach, Silver Springs, and other places we visited. To close
another year, five girls marshaled at the commencement exercises with Betty
Lou Caudle, chief; Shirley Wilkins, Inez Poe, Ann Barber, and Carolyn Caviness.
We could scarcely believe that on our next return to school, we would be
seniors!
But we were, and are, and now we were. This year, being our best and
last, we strove hard to have the best annual ever published at Goldston. Also,
we presented a senior play called "Here Come The Brides," that received many
laughs. Our leaders for this great year were: Jackie Miller, President; Pat
Thomas, Vice President; Carolyn Caviness, Secretary; Inez Poe, Treasurer; and
Ann Barber, Room Representative. The last few months of school began to
bring into view thoughts of another big event—the trip that only the seniors
would take! Then, the wonderful finish—Graduation!
To end up twelve years correctly, the 1955 Seniors extend to our principal,
our teachers, and our friends, a hearty word of thanks for your inspiration
through the years.

Junior Class Song Our dear seniors, life is so short.
So make the best in all that you do.
Don't put off 'till tomorrow what could be today,
Just take life as it comes and enjoy yourselves.
Don't ever think that here's where learning ends
Keep up the study for your own good.
Life's full of mysteries that you could solve.
So remember the things that you learned in school.
Forever and always may your dreams come true
May life be filled with rich blessings, too.
Don't ever forget us at Old Goldston High
We'll be your friends until the very end.
