Tuesday Telegraph Week Ten Term Four 2019
Texas P -10 State School
Principal’s Report Well that’s a wrap! 2019 has been a fantastic year for Texas P-10 State School students, staff and families. Our students have made improvements in their learning journeys with a great attitude along the way. Please enjoy your holidays and remember that school starts back on Tuesday 28 January.
All the best to Miss Harmony Collins, Miss Kiah Johnstone and Mr Scott Day for their future away from Texas. I am sure the school will miss the three of you and your contributions to the community. I would also like to wish our exiting students all the best with their future endeavours, I truly hope that you find success and happiness along the way.
On a personal level, I would like to thank the staff, students and families who welcomed our family to this special community. I have been lucky enough to work in a variety of schools throughout Queensland and I wouldn’t choose any other to have been a part of this past five years. It has been a special time for us and we will never forget this amazing little community.
Thank you for your support over the years, Toni Day

Cognitive Verb—Prove – Use simple, step-by-step logic to formally explain, why a certain fact is true. Whenever we
make a statement and need to validate it, we need to provide proof. You might use proof to justify your answer to a Maths question to prove to your sibling that you are a faster runner by challenging them to a race.
Leadership Camp
Last week the year 5 and 9’s attended a leadership camp at Lennox Heads.
On arrival, we were greeted with our awesome camp leaders. Then it was off
to cabins to get unpacked and ready for activities. Students were in the run-
ning for the cleanest cabin award over the three days. The year 9 boys won
the award by going the extra mile to ensure their cabin was spotless. Well
done boys!
Leadership activities included stand up paddle boarding, initiative games,
raft building, surfing, surf carnival and an amazing race. These activities
ensured teams worked together to problem solve and complete tasks. Some of
the student’s favourite activities were stand up paddle boarding, initiative
games, surf carnival and the amazing race! The students had an amazing
time and are ready for the challenges of leadership next year!
Thank you to all

Year 6 News
It’s the final week of Term 4,
and Year 6’s are currently
enjoying highschool transition.
Like they will do next year,
Year 6’s have been using the
lockers to store their bags,
they’ve enjoyed lunchtimes
sitting under the Highschool
area, and will be joining the
Year 7’s and 8’s in a range of
projects this week.
Just a reminder that all
parents of Year 6 children:
Year 6 Graduation is on
Thursday 12th December
from 2-3pm. Parents, please
bring in a plate of food to
share. This is a wonderful time
to celebrate the momentous
occasion of moving from Primary to Secondary school.
.Chappy Chatter with Chappy Jason
Thank you to everyone in our school community for a fantastic year,
especially in terms of the school chaplaincy service. I want to say a big
THANK YOU to everyone for your support throughout the year. It is
such a pleasure to be involved in the life of the school and in some
small ways help the school and its families be all that they can be. I
hope you all enjoy a restful break over the holidays, enjoy the Christ-
mas season, especially treasure the time with family and friends.
Merry Christmas and stay safe throughout the New Year and I look
forward to seeing you all again in 2020. Remember at this special time
of the year that Jesus is the reason for this season of celebration.
Year 7 English - Students interpreted and analysed a variety of poems and songs that put forward different perspectives on a variety of social issues. They created and presented a persuasive response to a song to promote a point of view. Poems that covered teen issues were effectively composed highlighting poetic devices and language features.
When Will It End
Molly Coventry
When will it end?
We will never know
Just sitting here waiting for the crops grow
A frustrated farmer frantically leaves
Then a few more follow
Whilst stock are dying
And another yield fails
The few people that are still here are just about crying
All we can do now is hope and hope
That the wet weather comes before the bloke
That takes your farm, car and home
The disaster I live in today
By Brooklyn Reid
When will it end?
When will it rain?
No sight of rain on the forecast for a million years
Just the sight of fires and dust swirling though
the air like a snow storm
The heat waves quiver and dance like monkeys in
the rain
As I walk cattle in
The dusty cattle yards
All I see is skin and bones
Every day I try to think of the best that could
happen
But all I see out my window
Is cattle dropping dead
And crops dying in the heat
It is hard to find water and food
I can’t watch animals and crops dying anymore
All I can think of is the rain that will come
And when will the rain come? I ask mum
I was raised in a drought
Always sadly seeing cattle dying
I have only seen a flood once
It was always a disaster
And I hope this disaster will end soon
To hear the rain go drip drop on the roof
Bullies
Corey Rawlins
Don’t be a bully
Bullies listen up
You’ll get in trouble
You’re not tough
Don’t be rough
Don’t hurt the kids who
are different
Don’t be smart to your
teachers
Don’t be mean to your
parents
And don’t hurt your
friends
Or you’ll lose them
When you’re older
You’ll have nobody to stick
up for you
Don’t be mean
Or you’ll lose all the people
Who are close to you
So bullies
This is all I have to say
Talk to the hand
And go away
