The changes in these regions between summer and winter are generally relatively moderate, rather than extreme hot or cold.

Maritime Climate is affected by oceans, thus sustaining somewhat stable temperatures throughout the year. Such regions include Western Europe, and western North America.

Temperate zones

The north temperate zone extends from the Tropic of Cancer(23.5° north latitude) to the Arctic Circle (66.5° north latitude).

The south temperate zone extends from the Tropic of Capricorn(23.5° south latitude) to the Antarctic Circle (66.5° south latitude).
