FEATUREFEATUREFEATURE

of Women’s Program at USA Gymnastics.

a. The two-step process must be complete before the athlete’s scores achieved in the Jr. Olympic Program are valid for any qualifying purposes.

b. Once proper documentation has been received by USA Gymnastics, the athlete may compete in the Jr. Olympic Program and represent her club up to, and including East/West Championships and Jr. Olympic National Championships.

c. If the athlete has a green card but is not yet a U.S. Citizen, and places in the top four (4) All-Around at Jr. Olympic Nationals, she will receive the award for her AA placement; however, she is not eligible to become a member of the Jr. Olympic National Team. In this instance, the next U.S. citizen in rank order will be placed on the Jr. Olympic National Team.

UPDATES TO RULES AND POLICIES1. For the safety of the athlete, the

Meet Director must securely fasten the vault runway to the floor with tape or Velcro.

2. Meet Directors may not refuse entries from competitors who wish to enter a competition that serves as a Sectional Meet or any competition that serves as a qualifier to State Championships and above.

3. Clarification for timed warm-ups for mixed levels in a squad — Page 99 of the R&P, II.A.2.a.4):

If a squad has more than one level competing, the timed warm-up will be determined by the combined total number of minutes allowed for each level (see following Examples).

Example 1:SQUAD # GYMNASTS LEVEL WARM-UP TIME

A 10 All Level 6/7 15 min (10 x 1.5)B 10 All Level 6/7 15 min (10 x 1.5)C 10 All Level 6/7 15 min (10 x 1.5)

D 10 8 at Level 6/7;2 at Level 8

16 min (8 x 1.5 plus2 x 2 min)

Example 2: Squad # gymnasts Level Warm-up Time

A 8 All Level 6 12 min (8 x 1.5)B 8 All Level 7 12 min (8 x 1.5)C 10 All Level 6 15 min (10 x 1.5)

D 8 6 Level 7, 2 Level 8

13 min (6 x 1.5 plus 2 x 20)

In Example 2, all squads would have 15 minutes (time of the largest squad) for vault and floor.

4. Recommendation that when using Non-Traditional (Capital Cup) or Modified Non-Traditional (Modified Capital Cup), the total number of athletes assigned to the corresponding Flight A and B squads cannot exceed:• 16 for Levels 8-10• 20 for combined Levels 6 and 7

only• 24 for Levels 1-5

If there are:• 9 or more (Levels 8-10)• 11 or more (Levels 6-7 combined

only)• 13 or more (Levels 1-5) in one of

the squads They are not allowed to split timed

warm-up within their squad.

5. Exceptions to proper gymnast’s attire for USA Gymnastics competitions (page 16 8.d. of the R&P). Recommendation that for medical or religious reasons, reasonable and accommodating exceptions to proper attire can be reviewed by the Regional Technical Committee Chairman and Regional JO or Xcel Committee Chairman. Requests must be submitted to the Regional Technical Committee Chairman a minimum of 48 hours prior to the athlete’s first competition. The Regional Technical Committee Chairman

will provide permission in writing to the coach who then can present the documentation to the Meet Referee at each competition.

6. Recommendation to award the top 8 places at Level 9 Eastern and Western Championships for individual events and the All-Around.
