WelcomeOn behalf of all the members at the Sun Parlour Boat Club, I would like to extend a warm welcome to new members, Matt and Carrie Ferguson and Luigi DiPierdomenico and Beth Preston. Our little club continues to grow, aspiring to fun on the water and a bond of friendship within the ranks. Please welcome and make them feel a part of our group. To our new members, please join us when you can and have a great summer.
Hi everyone!
I hope you are enjoying the boating season as much as I am.
There are several events happening every weekend. Please check our SPBC website for upcoming events. It was nice to see a good turnout for Opening of the Islands on June 11/ 2016. Our club was well represented. This year’s regatta is just around the corner, please mark your calendars for Aug. 26, 27, 28.
I would like to thank past commodore 1985 (Bob Walker) for his personal invite to Park Ha-ven Boat Club’s membership appreciation night. What a great night. Hope to see you guys at the next event.

SUMMER IS HERE!!!
At the Opening of the Islands on June 11th it was an honour to raise the Canadian Flag with Commodore Keith Postma.
My away event, July 22-24, at Kean's Marina is progressing nicely. It's not too late to register, so let me know. More details of the weekend will be coming shortly. Watch your emails.
There has also been an email sent out with the names of the Committee Chairs for the Regatta. They need your help, so please contact them and sign up.
Come out and support your club, travel with us, dine with us, laugh with us and most of all enjoy yourself with us.

Hello everyone, Shirley and I hope you are enjoying the hot weather. It’s what we have been waiting for.
Due to my medical condition, this will be my last report as Rear Commodore for 2016.I thought I might be able to continue, but it is proving to be too much.
Rear Commodore, in my opinion, is the best position on the Bridge. You get to oversee the whole operation, and I highly recommend that you concider becoming our Rear Commodore. You can contact me via e-mail or anyone on the Bridge for more information.
I am very proud to have served our members and represented our Club.Thank you for all your support and kindness

Your poker hand has now started with the first poker run well attended past June 3rd & 4th.On behalf of the bridge we wish all of you good luck for the best hand. Please make sure you register at each and every run you attend. Special thanks to Rick & V/C Izzie for carrying the poker run book in my absence. Please communicate with Rick for your intentions to attend poker runs so you are not missed in the attendance registry. Unfortunately, a recent change in my work schedule will make it difficult for me to attend poker runs due to a co-worker fallen ill. Your next (second) poker card will be given to you at Swan Boat Club on July 1st & 2nd.
Many thanks go out to Commodore Keith and Rick & V/C Izzie for representing our club at the Opening of the Islands. I regrettably missed this event and trust that everyone enjoyed the ceremony and friendship that followed.

Past Commodore Report
We had just over 30 people attend our IOBG Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser, thanks to all that could attend. Special thanks goes out to many of our past commodores helping at the dinner. All the food was donated by the past commodores, which as a result we collected $350 for Hospice. As well, will begin the detailed planning for the SPBC Ball. Please contact me if you would like to help out with this event, a few more hands would be welcome. I-LYA Update
Check out the following link http://i-lya.org/pages/regattas/power-regatta.php for the I-LYA Power Boat Regatta week (Aug 9th – 13th). It a fantastic regatta, one that if at all possible you should experience. The link provides you everything about this event and allows you to register online.

Hi guys! Last month's keyword was “success”, but this month's keyword is “resurgence”. Look around! There are more new boaters at Holiday Harbour and Lakeview Park Marina than there have been in years. New, first time boaters with young families who have taken up this fine pasttime rather than leaving it be-hind. This resurgence creates a realm of possible new members. What I envision is a club with two tiers. The few fine people who will embrace leadership and all it entails in the form of Balls and Receptions and other events where our club will be represented honourably and a tier with a return to a simpler gathering of boaters interested only in having a good time on the water. Short trips to Turkey Bay or Crystal Bay or White Sands or a number of other destinations where cost is held to a minimum. Spur of the moment parties and events with the focus on fun and camraderie. A club that is growing in size and in interest, rather than sitting on their hands. A club where you excuse helpers because there are already enough volunteers to perform the tasks at hand. I believe a new day is just around the corner. I had a dream. Oh shoot! Is it time to wake up?

Ahoy Fellow Boaters, The 2016 boating season is definitely here, the weather has been awesome and we have several more months of great weather and boating to look forward to. There are several events scheduled for July, take the time to visit the SPBC website to check out the dates and make reservations. Swan Boat Club is hosting their annual regatta July 1-3rd and this event is always a blast. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome new members Matt and Carrie Ferguson to Sun Parlour Boat Club. The 2016 rosters are available in the clubhouse for all members, please grab a copy when you stop by the clubhouse. Please choose to support your club, it is what we ALL make it. Our regatta is scheduled for the 3rd week-end in August and requests for volunteer help will be going out soon, this is a great way to get your club hours in and have some fun.Our events are a great way to re-connect and use up some of your Sun Parlour Dollars.
