Internships give students the opportunity to gain valuable applied experience and make connections in professional fields they are considering for career paths; and give employers the opportunity to guide and evaluate talent.”

Strategies to get the most from your internship
CONTACT YOUR CAREER COUNSELOR WITH ANY QUESTIONS
• BBA Junior Standing (or at least 45 hours in a mixed program), declared major with a 2.5 GPA
• Degree plan must be effective on the first day of the semester in which you will receive academic credit
• The course carries three hours of upper level academic credit and does not affect your GPA
• (“S”: Satisfied or “U”: Unsatisfied given on transcript) • When requesting academic credit, it is up to the faculty
internship advisor to evaluate the merit of your internship • MARK, FINA majors see Christina Hinkson for approval
• Reference the “Major Guidelines for Internship Academic Credit” documents for specific department requirements
• Students on the PPA track must go through the ACCOUNTING department for Internship Procedures and Requirements

Finance and Accounting
• Department Pre-requisites: • FINA 3332, ACCT 2331, ACCT 2332
• 10+ hours of professional duties per week • Submit a 5-8 page term paper at the end of
internship • Non-PPA Acct Majors must go through the Finance
department and are only eligible to receive advanced business elective credit
• Course prerequisites: • MARK 3336
• 100+ hours of professional duties over the duration of the internship
• Submit a 10 page term paper at the end of internship semester
• ENTR majors must contact Jim Kane (jmkane@bauer.uh.edu) for major elective credit
Marketing
• Course prerequisite: • MANA 3335
• 8+ hours of professional duties per week • Submit an 8-10 page term paper at the end
of the internship semester
Management
MIS
• Course prerequisites: • MIS 3360 and at least one of the
following: MIS 3370/71/76 • 10+ hours of professional duties/wk • Students must meet with Dr.
Richard Scamell prior to being enrolled in the MIS 7398 course
• Daily journals to be emailed to faculty advisor on a weekly basis & internship presentation given by student at the end of the semester
