New Principal Appointed Ms Kristine Pizarro, former Deputy Principal at Alstonville
High School has been successful, through merit, in being
appointed as the new principal of South Grafton High School. Ms Pizarro commences permanently as principal at
SGHS on Monday 30 April 2018. We welcome Ms Pizarro
with great anticipation for an exciting future at our school
and wish Mrs Johnson all the best in her new role in the Department of Education.
Harmony Day SGHS celebrated this important event to promote
friendship and reject racism by holding a sausage sizzle at
recess. The feeling was definitely harmonious with lots of hungry students and staff enjoying a lovely hot sausage
sandwich, expertly prepared by the SLIKK team.

Bangarra Dance Workshop
South Grafton High School was represented well by 17 students attending
the Bangarra Dance Workshop held at
Coffs Harbour High on Monday. All 17 students worked extremely hard and
made the day a great success.
Congratulations to Tristan Boney, Travis Gardiner-O'Connor and Jaxon Kairupan for
being selected for a possible position in
the State Aboriginal Dance Company. Cate Duroux told her English teacher that she
was exhausted but had a great time!
Scooter Racks
The school and SRC have installed scooter
racks for student use. Locks have been provided free of charge and the area is
under camera surveillance to protect the
scooters. The scooter area is outside the library at the front of the school.
The scooter kids have embraced the
initiative wholeheartedly and we look
forward to continued use and successful solution to an ongoing storage problem.
Students are reminded to lock their
scooters away BEFORE school.
School Lockers
Lockers are available for students to hire at $30 for a year. The lockers are located
outside the school library and are big
enough to fit school books, laptops or your school bag. Application forms are
available from the library.
SRC Leadership Camp
The annual SRC leadership camp was held last week at Camp Koinonia, Evans Head.
37 members of the SRC along with Mrs
McBeath and Mr Martin attended the camp. Students participated in 2 days of
activities such as rock climbing, vertical
challenge, beach initiative games, laser tag and other group challenges. Day 3 of
the camp was dedicated to school
business with the SRC undertaking to support many charities and issues within
the school.
Ms McBeath celebrated her last SRC camp
by conquering the high wall (with a lot of help from the SRC muscles). She was also
very surprised and really delighted by the
wonderful video/ photo tribute featuring marvellous messages from past school
captains, all prepared by SRC and Mr
Martin. We thanked Ms McBeath for all the great SRC Camps over the years.
