ArmyIgnitED - A New Method for Requesting Army TA
As of 12 February 2021, a new Army Tuition Assistance system called ArmyIgnitED is in place and will be ready for use by 15 March 2021. ArmyIgnitED is the new Army tuition request portal used to pay for education programs and courses. It’s the portal that Army Active Duty, Army Reserve, and Army National Guard Soldiers will use to request tuition assistance. This new portal is unlike the previous GoArmyEd tuition assistance portal. Its functions will be easier for Army students to use in requesting tuition assistance; adding and dropping courses; and in reviewing education progress. The previous GoArmyEd method for requesting TA is no longer available.
Please use the following processes:
Students will need to first request course registration through SMU’s Self-Service portal. If you require assistance you may ask any SMU staff member for help in registering.
Remember: students must first request course registration through SMU. Once course registration requests are approved in Self-Service, your advisor will then add the courses to your ArmyIgnitED profile.
Once the course information is in ArmyIgnitED, you will then need to request course registration in ArmyIgnitED for TA approval. This request must be done prior to the first day of courses. TA will not be approved for any request made on the course start date or any time after.
The changes might seem difficult at first, however from the student perspective, the new ArmyIgnitED portal saves time because Course Planners are no longer necessary nor do you have to wait for the Army Counselors to approve your requested courses. Now you register with SMU first and apply for TA second. Provided your TA request has been approved, we will then invoice ArmyIgnitED directly. These new changes to the Army’s TA registration policy will save you time and effort. As always Saint Martin’s University stands ready to serve your academic and administrative needs. All you have to do is ask!
