Growing in our community

In the last year, the Alpha Alpha chapter has inducted a new class of students who were excited to take on the missions of service to our community and dedication to our studies.

Since its founding in 2012, the Alpha Alpha chapter has accumulated hundreds of service hours.

Through service, we seek to better spread local awareness

of osteopathic medicine.

Looking Ahead…

Our mission to become a pillar of service within our community.

• This is the third year in a row that all members have completed training for the Manatee Reserve Corps with the Florida Department of Health – Manatee County.

• Our members take turns on rotating shifts at a local clinic to perform STD testing. These shifts count as SSP volunteer hours.

Manatee County Medical Reserve

Corps

The Medical Reserve Corps is a team of pre-identified, trained and credentialed

volunteers who augment local health and medical services during disasters and other

public health activities. These volunteers include physicians,

nurses, dentists, veterinarians, pharmacists, other health and medical professionals, as well as others who are willing to

support the MRC and Manatee County.

The Alpha Alpha chapter represents the largest

contingent of volunteers in the MRC.

Fundraising

• The Alpha Alpha Chapter is currently attempting to raise $60,000 to support the production of a PBS documentary based on our advisor’s book, “The Feminine Touch: Women in Osteopathic Medicine.”

• This would be the first documentary about women in osteopathic medicine.

LECOM & SSP

• This year, we are hope to make a lasting impact on the field of osteopathic medicine by raising enough money to produce the PBS documentary.

Our Future… • We look forward to increasing our service efforts to fit the needs of our community and our student body.

• We seek to lead by example and spark a spirit of service at LECOM-Bradenton.

• We are excited to implement new ideas and create new traditions.

• We are enthusiastic to build a strong relationship with our fellow members of SSP across the country.
