What is a Sculpture?

A three dimensional piece of art that has height, width and depth.

Is not flat like a drawing but is fat and takes up space in the environment.

It can be made of many materials, such as wood, stone, marble, metal, or found objects.

It can be built by putting pieces together or by removing pieces from the object.

Who is Alexander Calder?

An American born sculptor.

The inventor of mobiles. He made many

sculptures: large, small, freestanding, hanging.

All sculptures used basic organic, abstract shapes.

Moved to Paris to work.
