COMSOL - Multiphysics

• COMSOL Multi-physics (formerly FEMLAB) is a commercial finite element analysis and solver package for various physics and engineering applications.

Example - 2D steady-state thermal analysis

• Domain - 0.6×1.0 meters.

• Boundary conditions:

– The left boundary is insulated.

– The lower boundary is kept at 100 °C.

– The upper and right boundaries are convecting to 0 °C with a heat transfer coefficient of 750 W/(m2°C).

• Material Properties

– Thermal conductivity is 52 W/(m °C).

– Density, ρ - 7850 kg/m3
