PURPOSEPURPOSEPURPOSEPURPOSE

The object of a WWWWOODOODOODOOD BBBBADGEADGEADGEADGE course is to demonstrate as practically as possible the aims and methods of Scouting. Six days in duration, the course is a multi-faceted presentation of leadership skills, organizational tools, and participatory activities based on the best of Scouting traditions and the latest in team-development theory. In addition, you will enjoy the fellowship of learning alongside other Scouters. Along the way, you will also have a great deal of fun!

LIVINGLIVINGLIVINGLIVING ARRANGEMENTSARRANGEMENTSARRANGEMENTSARRANGEMENTS & & & & EQUIPMENTEQUIPMENTEQUIPMENTEQUIPMENT Course participants sleep in cabins weekend one. During weekend two, participants move to an outdoor setting and sleep in their personal tents. Meals for the course are served in the dining hall. For the outdoor “overnight,” each Patrol cooks from its own menu.

All participants shall wear the official BSA uniform appropriate for their primary role in Scouting.

There is a fair amount of physical activity in WWWWOODOODOODOOD BBBBADGEADGEADGEADGE. However, most limitations can be accommodated. If there are any questions about your ability to take part, contact the Course Director before sending an application. A current BSA Part A, B & C medical form (dated after September 14, 2013) is required for attendance. A copy should be submitted by July 1, 2014.

RECOGNITIONRECOGNITIONRECOGNITIONRECOGNITION

Upon successful completion of the ticket, you are entitled to receive WWWWOODOODOODOOD BBBBADGEADGEADGEADGE recognition, which consists of the WWWWOODOODOODOOD BBBBADGEADGEADGEADGE beads (two wooden beads on a leather thong), a tan neckerchief, a leather woggle (neckerchief slide), and a certificate. The recognition items not only identify you as a Scouter who has completed this advanced training, they also serve to remind you of your ongoing commitment to Scouting.

COSTCOSTCOSTCOST

The course fee is $275, which includes training materials, use of facilities, and meals. To reserve your place for this course, complete the application (on reverse), and submit it with your deposit of $50.

The remaining balance is due prior to July 1, 2014.

Registration will close upon receipt of 56 paid registrations. Historically, the course fills and a standby list is established by mid-spring. If you are serious about taking Wood Badge Course C2-782-14, pay your fees as soon as possible.

PROGRAMPROGRAMPROGRAMPROGRAM

WWWWOODOODOODOOD BBBBADGEADGEADGEADGE is the advanced training course for adult leaders: Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Varsity, Venturing, District and Council volunteers, as well as professional Scouters. The program consists of two parts:

PRACTICALPRACTICALPRACTICALPRACTICAL TRAININGTRAININGTRAININGTRAINING During this 6-day outdoor event you will live as a member of a Patrol, practice skills of leadership, and learn how these skills apply in your role as an adult leader in the development of youth in Scouting. The experience renews Scouting spirit and enthusiasm, and helps you to do a better job in the Scouting tasks you have accepted. This portion of the course is given at Camp Rotary, Clare, Michigan, over two three-day weekends.

A mandatory Patrol meeting will be held between the two weekends.

APPLICATIONAPPLICATIONAPPLICATIONAPPLICATION PHASEPHASEPHASEPHASE

At the close of the Practical Training you will have written your Ticket, a set of goals designed by you to be accomplished by you. Now you will work your ticket. Utilizing aspects of what you learned during the Practical Training, accomplishing the goals will provide service to others, improve your Scouting unit program, or assist you in an area of personal growth. A Ticket Counselor will be assigned to provide assistance and encouragement as you work your Ticket.

The Application Phase begins at the end of the Practical Training and lasts for eighteen months. During this time you must complete your Ticket - accomplish each of your goals. Then, on an occasion of your choice, you will be presented the neckerchief, woggle, and beads that distinguish a Wood Badger.

QUALIFICATIONSQUALIFICATIONSQUALIFICATIONSQUALIFICATIONS To participate in WWWWOODOODOODOOD BBBBADGEADGEADGEADGE training you must be a registered adult leader and have completed the Basic Leader Specific training (including outdoor portions) appropriate to your position in Scouting. Training need not be completed at the time of registration, but must be completed before the start of the course. Because of the advanced nature of the training, these requirements may not be waived.
