Our Infant School is undergoing a lot of change!

• Our school’s new front office is nearly ready.

New Head Teacher’s Office

• The Deputy Head & ICT Technician have a new office to share too!

Teaching & Guided Practice within Yr 2 & 1 Classes

• We aim to teach with the Interactive Technologies, where appropriate, during the teaching segment of most lessons.

Incorporating ICT within the Teaching Segment of Lessons

Demonstration & Modelling

• teacher-demonstrations & modelling, using:

– the visualiser,

– the PC,

– WCIT (whole class interactive teaching technology – e.g. Graphics Tablets/Activ-Slate etc),

• children modelling & demonstrating key concepts to others, using:

– the visualiser,

– the PC,

– WCIT (whole class interactive teaching technology – e.g. Graphics Tablets/Activ-Slate etc).

• This practice is now embedded within the school’s Teaching & Learning Policy.

Incorporating ICT within Consolidation Segment of Lessons

Consolidation Activity

• children using ICT:

– to consolidate learning linked to the learning intention for that lesson, whilst at the same time revising key skills from within the ICT Scheme of Work and associated minimum standard documents (if an English, Science or Foundation Subject lesson);

– to consolidate learning directly linked to the learning intention for that lesson (if a Maths lesson).

• Expectations for children using ICT during lessons are now embedded within the school’s Teaching & Learning Policy too.

Teaching & Guided Practice within Yr N & R Classes

• Teacher consoles in Nursery & Reception classes now have an interactive “touch” monitor.

For example: Year 1 Science Lesson:“To know how to care for plants”.

• We aim for “conventional” and “ICT-based” consolidation activities to take place within the same lesson.

For example: Year 1 Science Lesson:“To know how to care for plants”.

• This “ICT-based” consolidation activity links directly to the Science learning intention.• In addition, a Year 2 ICT skill is being reinforced.

Consolidation within Nursery

• A Mini-ICT suite with jumbo key-boards, mini mice and & interactive monitors.

Consolidation within Nursery

• An interactive plasma SmartBoard within the Nursery Role-Play area.

Consolidation within Nursery

• Digital Blue Software, amongst others, is used with the plasma SmartBoard.

Consolidation within Reception

• Both classes have ICT “bays”. L to R: Multi-media monitor with jumbo keyboard; PC with interactive touch-monitor; standard monitor and lower-case keyboard.

Consolidation within Year One

• Year 1 classes have an Intellidesk PC “cluster”, containing 3 machines. Each PC is fitted with 2 headphones and a lower-case keyboard.

Consolidation within Year Two

• Each Year 2 class has 4 Intellidesks integrated into a horse-shoe formation, fitted with headphones & standard keyboards.

Consolidation within Year Two

• In addition, both Year 2 classes have an Intellidesk “cluster”, containing 2 machines, at the rear of the room.

Consolidation within Year Two

• Conventional and ICT-based consolidation activities taking place within a lesson - all linked to the learning intention for that lesson.

Consolidation within Year Two

• Year 8 “buddies” from Eastbury Comprehensive help our children develop their ICT skills.

Consolidation throughout the Whole School

• The 8 I-desks located outside the classes are used for additional independent and collaborative work within lessons.
