Ready to see a whole new side of residence life?

Residence Hall Association

Group of individuals elected by their peers to manage the affairs of the residence halls.

Focus is:

Being a “voice of the people” by allowing residents to voice concerns and then channeling those concerns through the higher administration

Building community and establishing a greater sense of pride in the residence halls through large-scale programming

Promoting a positive living environment

Structure of RHA

RHA is separated into two different realms:

Hall Governments

National Residence Hall Honorary

RHA On A Larger Scale

Our RHA is just a tiny piece of a much larger puzzle. That puzzle is called NACURH (National Association of College and

University Residence Halls).

NACURH Regions

SAACURH

SAACURH: South Atlantic Affiliate of College and University Residence Halls

Made up of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia

SAACURH is awesome, and is the only regional affiliate to have their own state associations.

Our state association is the Georgia Residence Hall Organization (GRHO), comprised of all of the affiliated schools that have an RHA/NRHH.

Conferences!

At each level, there is a conference where delegates of each RHA meet to network and attend programs to build leadership skills and gain additional ideas to bring back to their community.

Mercer's RHA delegation had the opportunity to attend GRHO for the first time this past year!

RHA Meetings

General Assembly Meetings (biweekly):

President/VP of Each Hall Government

These are considered “open” meetings and residents are encouraged to attend these meetings and participate in conversation; however, they will not have a vote in voting proceedings.

Executive Board Meetings (biweekly)

RHA Budget

$5/resident/semester

$1/resident goes toward Hall Governments, roughly $1700/semester

$4/resident goes toward other RHA-related aspects (conference fees, item purchases, training, etc), roughly $6800/semester

Hall Governments

Ideally, each area will have their own Hall Government that will operate independently.

This is where YOU come in!

Hall Governments are governing bodies of that specific area, consisting of peers elected by their own residents to represent them.

General Assembly meetings can be held to hear the concerns of the residents, or some Hall Governments elect floor representatives who attend every meeting and present floor concerns to the other HG members.
