Dear Readers,
The Republic of Moldova, along with other 192 countries members of the United Nations has undertaken the commitment to implement the UN Resolution on the Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by the General Assembly Resolution on the 25th of September 2015. The main purpose of agenda is to eradicate the poverty by 2030 in all its dimensions and to ensure sustainable development all over the world increasing the prosperity of humans and economies while protecting the environment and the planet overall.
The 2030 global Agenda provides a new approach on development, emphasizing on promotion of human rights, people’s interests being placed at the center of the development process, which could be accomplished in a sustainable way by empowering the people to participate, contribute and benefit of economic, cultural, social and political development. Due to this, the world is to implement the Agenda through its 17 Goals and 169 specific targets, covering all key dimensions of development: economic, social, and environment.

The publication includes the core set of statistical indicators, with appropriate data disaggregation to capture the no one left behind principle, used for the monitoring of the Sustainable Development Goals in the Republic of Moldova. While the full set of national SDGs indicators, compiled following the global indicator framework developed by the Inter-Agency and Expert Group on SDG Indicators (IAEG-SDGs), can be found on the NBS official website.
