STATEMENT OF SMARTCAMRED

RED LIGHT CAMERA TECHNOLOGY

Digital SMARTCAMred Camera Systems ONLY triggerduring the red light signal phase.

The Camera Systems record:

• Four separate images for each red light violation, and

• The date, time, time into the red cycle, location, detectedvehicle speed and posted speed limit for each violation. TheCamera System imprints this data onto the Databar whichis displayed at the top of all four images. (See exampleDatabar below)

Each Camera System consists of a Main Camera (toprovide rear-shot images of the vehicle, a Plate Camera (toprovide a zoomed image of its rear license plate) and a FaceCamera (to capture images of the driver’s face).

The Camera System is connected to the traffic signalcontroller and detection sensors. During the green andamber signal phases the camera is not active. It ONLYbecomes active AFTER a delay period from the start of thered signal phase.

When the sensors detect a violation, the Main Cameratriggers. The Scene A Image shows the vehicle just behindthe stop bar with the traffic signal already red. The Plate andScene B Image is activated when the vehicle hasproceeded through the intersection during the red phase(therefore displaying a red light violation).

The Face Camera placed across the intersection istriggered by the Main Camera during each suspectedviolation.

The System uses encryption to safeguard the imageevidence against alteration. At the scene, the System giveseach image and its data a unique signature to confirm itsauthentic status. Public key cryptography and additionalencryption processes secure the transmission process.
