RECOMMENDED ACTS FOR THE NIGHT OF 15TH SHABAAN

A’maal for the 15th night of Sha’aban.Importance of this Holy Night

the night of 15th Sha’baan, “night of Baraat”, is the most auspicious night after “Night of

Qadr” The Holy Prophet (S.A.) had said:

on the night of 15th Shaa’baan the Almighty takes decisions in the matters of rizq, life &

death & welfare of the people.3.Imam Muhammad Al Baqir(as) &Ja’far as Saadiq (as) the Almighty Alláh has promised to fulfill every legitimate desire put forward to

Him tonight.

Dua Kumayl - Mafateeh Al Jinaan (pg. 62)

A’maal for the 15th night of Sha’aban.

Dua KumaylMafateeh Al Jinaan (pg. 169)

Recite Dua Kumayl for Seeking forgiveness. In Hadith, it is mentioned that Kumayl ibn Ziyad said, "I was sitting with my master Amir al-Mominin ‘Ali ibn Abu Talib (peace be upon him) in Masjid Kufa and a group of companions were also sitting with him. One of them asked him what the meaning of the verse 'Whereupon every wise command is made clear.' (Surah ad-Dukhan, Verse 4) The Imam (peace be upon him) replied, The meaning of this is the night of the 15th of Sha‘ban. I swear by the One who holds the life of ‘Ali in His hands there is not a single servant of Allah except that all the good and bad that will reach him in this year is divided up and handed out on the 15th of Sha‘ban and this good and bad will continue from the 15th of Sha‘ban until the next year on the same night. The servant who stays up this night and recites the Du‘a of Khidr will have his supplications answered." This dua taught to Kumayl ibn Ziad is now known popularly as Dua e Kumayl

Imam Jaa’far bin Muhammad As Sadiq (A.S.) had advised the faithfuls to pray a

2 Raka’t Namaaz tonight, after Ishaa prayers, as under:

In the first Raka’t recite Soorah Al Faatih’ah and Soorah Al Kaafiroon. In

the second Raka’t recite Soorah Al Faatih’ah and Soorah Al Ikhlaas.

After the Salaam recite “Tasbih of Faatimah Zahraa A.S.”. ie -subhanallah’ thirty-three times, ‘alhamdulillah’ thirty-three times,

and ‘allahu-akbar’ thirty-four times

To recite Sura-e-Yasin three times with three different

intentions:

The 1st one with intention of long life

The 2nd one for safeguard against misfortunes

The 3rd one for to be saved from sudden deaths

2 Rakat Namaaz & Tasbih

2 Rakat NamaazAfter Surah Al-Hamd recite

In 1st rak’ah, Sura-e-Kaafiroon in In 2nd rak’ah Sura-e-Tawhid (Qul

huwallaah) Then do tasbih in this format :

ALLAAHU AKBAR (x 34).

O my Alláh for the sake of this night we are now in,

for the sake of he who was born tonight,

Thy decisive argument,Thy “promise”,

7ها ف;ض9ل 7لى ا 9ت; ن ق;ر; 8تي ال

that Thou joined with it as a favour to keep alive its

superiority,

� ص7د9قا :ك; 7م;ت ;ل ك ;م8ت9 ف;ت � ف;ض9ال7ك; 7مات ;ل 7ك ل ;د>ل; م:ب ال � و;ع;د9ال

so Thou fulfilled Thy words truly and justly; no one can change Thy Words

nor obscure Thy signs.

Thy Light, soft, pleasant and caressing,

ر7ق: 9م:ش9 ال و;ض7ياؤ:ك;

Thy splendour, had come in view bright and

brilliant,

ياء7 ط;خ9 في Lور: الن ;م: 9ع;ل و;ال9ج:ور7 الد8ي

for the “Bright sigh”, (so far) invisible and hidden in

the obscurity of the darkness,

the covering had been taken off,

7د:ه: ت م;ح9 ;رم; و;ك 7د:ه: م;و9ل ج;ل8

his arrival in this world was the basis of all

kindness,

ه8د:ه: ش: ;ة: 7ك 9م;الئ و;ال

the Angels stood witness.

>د:ه: و;م:ؤ;ي ه: ناص7ر: و;الله:

Almighty Alláh will help him and support him when

the promise

ميعاد:ه: آن 7ذا ا

(the event of the beginning of his reign)

come true,

;م9داد:ه: ا ;ة: 7ك 9م;الئ و;ال

the Angels will be among his troops,

:و 9ب ;ن ي ال ال8ذي الله 9ف: ي س;

(he will be) a fatal blow from Alláh that will never

miss the aim

:و ;خ9ب ي ال ال8ذي ه: :ور: و;ن

a light from Him that will never grow dim,

:و ;ص9ب ي ال ال8ذي 7 9م ل 9ح7 ال و;ذ:و

a gentle matured disposition that will never

jeopardize the truth.

The motive and reason of the course of events,

9ع;ص9ر7 ال ;واميس: و;ن

the honour and estimation of time,

the “Ulil—Amr” (in charge of Alláh’s affairs).

Accompany that which comes down in the “Grand

Night”

the controllers of the Day of Judgement and

resurrection,

interpreters of the “Revelations”,

7ه7 ;ه9ي و;ن ;م9ر7ه7 ا و;و:الة:

and those who make known what to do and

what not to do.

O Alláh send blessing on their seal and

representative, un seeable to their people,

?ام;ه: ;ي أ 7نا ب ;د9ر7ك; و;ا ه:م8 ـ? ;لل او;ق7يام;ه: ه: و;ظ:ه:ور;

make his days, his return, his time, reach maturity,

(let us be with him),

9صار7ه7 ;ن ا م7ن9 9نا و;اج9ع;ل

as his helpers,

7ثار7ه7 ب نا ثار; و;اق9ر7ن9

let us be his attacking comrades to hunt up and eliminate the beasts (in

human shapes),

7ه7 و;خ:ل;صائ 7ه7 ;ع9وان ا في 9نا :ب 9ت و;اك

register our names as his supporters

ناع7مين; 7ه7 ;ت د;و9ل في 7نا ي ;ح9 و;ا

and sincere friends, bring us to life again in his

reign,

7ح;ق>ه7 و;ب 7مين; غان 7ه7 ;ت ب 7ص:ح9 و;ب7مين; قائ

gentle and loving, happy and satisfied in his

company, and steadfast in his cause,

7مين; سال السLوء7 و;م7ن;

free from sins,

اح7مين; الر? ح;م; ;ر9 ا يا

O the Most Merciful!

Lords of the worlds! His blessings be on our Chief,

Muhammad, the Last Prophet and Messenger,

and on his dependable “Ahlul Bayt”, his truth—

The Giver of life and death,

The Initiator, the Originator

For You is is Glory

Praise

and Grace,

nor was He born,and there is none equal to

Bless Muhammad and his family,

and forgive me, have mercy on me,

;ه;م8ني ا ما 9ف7ني و;اك

and suffice for what is important to me.

9ني د;ي و;اق9ض7

Fulfill my debts,

ر7ز9قي في ع;لي8 ع9 و;و;س>

and increase my sustenance.

:ل8 ك ;ة7 9ل 8ي الل هذ7ه7 في 8ك; 7ن ف;اق: ;ف9ر: ت ح;كيم ;م9ر ا

For Surely, on this night, every affair is decreed,

and You provide sustenance to whomever

You please from your creation.

So provide me,for You are the best of the

providers.

7ه7 ف;ض9ل م7ن9 الله;And You have said,

and You are the best of those who say and utter,"And ask Alláh from His

Bounty"

So I ask You from Your Bounty,

and You only I seek,

and on the son of Your Prophet I lean,

in You I have hope,

then have mercy on me,O Most Merciful of the

Merciful.

pleasure,

the certainty that makes the miseries of the world

seem insignificant.

O Allah, make us enjoy,our hearing,

our sight,

our strengthas long as You Keep us

alive.

Make us take rise against those who oppress us,

عادانا م;ن9 ع;لى 9ص:رنا و;ان

and help us against those who show animosity to us.

Place not our miseries in our religion,

ه;م>نا ;ر; 9ب ;ك ا 9يا الدLن ;ج9ع;ل7 ت و;ال

and let not this world be our biggest concern,

nor the extent of our knowledge.

and do not appoint over usone who has no mercy on

ح;م; ;ر9 ا يا 7ك; ح9م;ت 7ر; باح7مين; . الر?

by your mercy,O Most Merciful of the

Merciful.

O He who knows the hidden as well as the evident! O He who is not unaware of the bias of the suspicious mind, and the clever activity of the fanciful

deviating intellect!

O Lord of the cosmos and the creatures dwelling

therein!

O He who exercises full authority over the domain

of the heavens and the earths!

Thou art Alláh, There is no God save Thou,

9ت; ;ن ا ? 7ال إ 7لـه; ا 7ال ب 9ك; ;ي 7ل ا Lم:ت; ا

I stride apace unto Thee with “There is no god save

Thou” (on my lips),

في اج9ع;ل9ني 9ت; ;ن ا ? 7ال ا 7لـه; ا ال ف;يا9ه7 ;ي 7ل ا ت; ;ظ;ر9 ن م7م8ن9 ;ة7 9ل 8ي الل ه7ذ7ه7

;ه: 9ت ب ;ج; ف;ا د:عاء;ه: م7ع9ت; و;س; ;ه: ح7م9ت ف;ر;therefore O "There is no god save Thou”, treat me tonight like the one whom Thou paid

attention, took pity and heard his prayer, and, aware

of his trembling,

tolerated and overlooked his past misdeeds

7ف7 سال ع;ن9 ت; ;جاو;ز9 و;ت7ه7 ت ج;رير; 7 و;ع;ظيم 7ه7 ;ت خ;طيئ

and may mistakes to give answer to his cry of help,

م7ن9 7ك; ب ت: ;ج;ر9 ت اس9 ف;ق;د7:وبي ذ:ن

I surrender myself to Thee alongwith my

transgressions

9ر7 ت س; في 9ك; ;ي 7ل ا ;ج;أت: و;ل:وبي ع:ي

and make a request to please keep my defects

undisclosed.

م7ك; ;ر; 7ك ب ع;ل;ي8 ف;ج:د9 ه:م8 ـ? ;لل ا7ك; و;ف;ض9ل

O my Alláh put me again in good condition

(because) Thou art Generous and kind,

9م7ك; ل 7ح7 ب خ;طاياي; و;اح9ط:ط9 و;ع;ف9و7ك;

take off the loads of my errors (because) Thou art loving and oft-forgiving,

;ة7 9ل 8ي الل هذ7ه7 في ;غ;م8د9ني و;ت7ك; ;رام;ت ك 7غ7 7ساب ب

cover me with Thy mercy tonight (because) Thou

shows generosity in abundance,

7ك; 7يائ ;و9ل ا م7ن9 فيها 9ني و;اج9ع;ل7ك; ل7طاع;ت ;ه:م9 9ت ;ي ;ب ت اج9 8ذين; ال

let me be tonight among Thy friends whom Thou elected to obey Thee,

7ك; 7ع7باد;ت ل ;ه:م9 ت ;ر9 ت واخ9

when Thou selected to worship Thee,

;ك; و;ص7ف9و;ت ;ك; 7ص;ت خال ;ه:م9 9ت و;ج;ع;ل

and kept them sincerely attached and committed

to Thee.

ع;د; س; م7م8ن9 9ني اج9ع;ل ه:م8 ـ? ;لل ا ج;دLه:

O my Alláh let me be like the one who finds

happiness in his efforts

ح;ظLه: 9رات7 ي 9خ; ال م7ن; ;و;ف8ر; و;ت

and makes full use of the good fortune made available to him,

;ع7م; ف;ن 7م; ل س; م7م8ن9 9ني و;اج9ع;ل

let me be like the one who kept from evil, therefore, lived a life free of cares;

7م; ف;غ;ن و;فاز;

exercised self-control, therefore won easily.

;ف9ت: ل ;س9 ا ما ر8 ش; 9ف7ني و;اك

Spare and free me for the cravings I have accumulated,

في 9زد7ياد7 اال م7ن; و;اع9ص7م9ني7ك; ;ت م;ع9ص7ي

prevent me from the wasteful conduct that

transgress Thy bounds,

و;ما ;ك; طاع;ت 7ل;ي8 ا >ب9 و;ح;ب9د;ك; ن ع7 7ف:ني ل :ز9 و;ي 9ك; م7ن :ني ب :ق;ر> ي

discipline me in Thy obedience which will

direct me to Thy neighbourhood, very near

to Thee.

9هار7ب: ال : أ 9ج; ;ل ي 9ك; ;ي 7ل ا >دي ي س;

My Lord and master with Thee the hunted refugee

take refuge,

7ب: الط?ال ;م7س: 9ت ;ل ي 9ك; و;م7ن

the beseecher humbly makes a request to Thee,

:ع;و>ل: ي م7ك; ;ر; ك و;ع;لى7ب: ?ائ الت 7ل: ;ق9ي ت 9م:س9 ال

the repentant guilty, apologetic, relies on Thy

liberal kindness,

7 م Lر; 8ك بالت ع7باد;ك; 9ت; ;د8ب ا

Thou trained and educated Thy servants thoroughly to be kind and liberal,

مين; 9ر; ;9ك اال م: 9ر; ;ك ا 9ت; ;ن و;ا

Thou art the most kind of all those who show

kindness;

9ت; ;ن و;ا ع7باد;ك; 9ع;ف9و7 7ال ب ت; ;م;ر9 و;ا8رحيم: ال 9غ;ف:ور: ال

Thou developed Thy servants to be forgiving

and compassionate, Thou art Of-Forgiving Merciful.

ج;و9ت: ر; ما ;ح9ر7م9ني ف;الت ه:م8 ـ? ;لل ام7ك; ;ر; ك م7ن9

O my Alláh do not keep from me that which I

expect to get from Thy generosity,

7ع;م7ك; ن 7غ7 ساب م7ن9 7س9ني :ؤ9ي ت و;ال

do not send me away from Thy boundless reservoir of

bounties,

ج;زيل7 م7ن9 9ني >ب ي :خ; ت و;ال;7ه9ل7 ال ;ة7 9ل 8ي الل هذ7ه7 في م7ك; ق7س9

7ك; طاع;تdo not exclude me from

the share Thou distribute freely tonight to the

people who obey Thee,

رار7 ش7 م7ن9 8ة ن ج: في و;اج9ع;ل9ني7ك; 8ت ;ر7ي ب

and take me in under Thy sanctuary to protect me from the evil of the wild

creatures.

;ه9ل7 ا م7ن9 :ن9 ;ك ا ;م9 ل 7ن9 ا ب> ر; 7 م ;ر; 9ك ال ;ه9ل: ا 9ت; ;ن ف;ا 7ك; ذل

ة7 9م;غ9ف7ر; و;ال 9ع;ف9و7 و;الLord! If I am not among the deserving, Thou art Liberal, indulgent, and

Oft-Forgiving ,

ال :ه: ;ه9ل ا 9ت; ;ن ا 7ما ب ع;ل;ي8 و;ج:د9;ح7قLه: ت ;س9 ا 7ما ب

so give me to my heart’s content in accordance

with Thy (Omni) potence, not what I deserve;

because my expectations are very high,

;ك; ل جائي ر; ;ح;ق8ق; و;ت

my hopes live in hope of sure fulfillment,

م7ك; ;ر; 7ك ب ;ف9سي ن 7ق;ت9 و;ع;ل

I cling to and hang on Thy liberal generosity,

verily Thou art the most Merciful of all who show

mercy, and the most generous of all who vie in

generosity .

O my Alláh designate me clearly to obtain freely my share from Thy bounties.

7ك; ;ت ع:ق:وب م7ن9 7ع;ف9و7ك; ب ;ع:وذ: و;ا

I seek refuge with Thy forgiveness to avoid the

penalty Thou may decide,

ال8ذي 9ب; 8ذن ال 7ي; ل و;اغ9ف7ر:ق; ل 9خ: ال ع;ل;ي8 7س: ;ح9ب ي

be lenient to me in the matter of sins that have wrapped up and held in check my refinement,

ق; ز9 الر> ع;لي8 >ق: :ض;ي و;ي

and thus brought me into distress,

ر7ضاك; 7ح7 7صال ب ;ق:وم; ا ح;تى

(so that) I take steps to be good for the sake of Thy

pleasure,

7ك; ع;طائ 7ج;زيل7 ب 9ع;م; ;ن و;ا

live in ease and peace on account of Thy uninterrupted endowments,

7ك; ;ع9مائ ن 7غ7 7ساب ب ع;د; ;س9 و;ا

and prosper on account of Thy countless bounties.

م7ك; 7ح;ر; ب :ذ9ت: ل ف;ق;د9

As I enjoy Thy protection and lay myself at the

م7ك; ;ر; 7ك ل ض9ت: ;ع;ر8 و;ت

of Thy generosity,

م7ن9 7ع;ف9و7ك; ب ;ع;ذ9ت: ت ;س9 وا7ك; ;ت ع:ق:وب

take refuge with Thy forgiveness to avoid the penalty Thou may decide

and with Thy indulgence to avoid Thy anger,

O` my Alláh the seekers have presented before You their requests in this night

and the ambitious has resolved to reach Your

guidance

وف;ك; و;م;ع9ر: ف;ض9ل;ك; ;م8ل; و;ا:ون; 7ب الط?ال

and the seekers are hoping Your grace and

bounties.

bounties, the provisions, gifts and presents upon those of Your creatures

and You deny the same to the one for whom no

divine decree has been ordained.

And here I am you worthless bondmen in

want but

hopeful for getting grace and bounties.

favour on anyone in this night, from among Thy

created beings

And multiply profits and gains for him out of love

and affection,

please bestow Your blessings no Mohammad and his pure and purified

progeny,

the best of the learned,

and be kind to bestow on me Your wealth and

Verily Alláh is praise worthy and glorious.

taught by You . You therefore grant me my

requests as You did promise. You surely do

not go against Your promise.

O Alláh send Your blessings onMuhammad and the family of Muhammad.

I prostrate my self in adoration before Thee, my

These are my two hands and that which they pluck

and gather for me,

O the Great, (to do) every noble deed reliance is

upon Thee,

8ه: 7ن ف;ا 9ع;ظيم; ال 7ي; ل 7غ9ف7ر9 ا ? 7ال إ 9ع;ظيم; ال 9ب; الذ8ن ;غ9ف7ر: الي

9ع;ظيم . ال Lب الر8forgive my serious

offences because, beyond a shadow of doubt, no one

can forgive the grave trangression except the

Great Lord.

SIT DOWN & PLEASE AGAINGO INTO SAJDAH

of Thy Being that had illuminated the heavens

and the earths,

removed and exposed the darkness,

;9و8لين; اال ;مر: ا 9ه7 9ي ع;ل ;ح; و;ص;ل9خ7رين; و;اال

put in order the “operation”, from the beginning to the end,

7ك; 7ق9م;ت ن ;ة7 أ ف:ج9 م7ن9

at all times free from violent and unexpected changes to the worse,

7ك; ;ت عاف7ي ;ح9ويل7 ت و;م7ن9

absence of recovery and adjustment

7ك; 7ع9م;ت ن وال7 ز; و;م7ن9

and discontinuation of the supply of natural

resources.

O Alláh give me a knowing fearing, clean conscience,

free from hypocrisy, which is neither renegade nor

villainous.

THEN KEEP YOUR RIGHT CHEEK ON THE SAJDAGAH

الغامرة اللجج في

in the deep waters of fathomless sea.

ركبها من يأمن

Safe is he who boarded it

تركها من ويغرق

and drowned is he who discarded it.

مارق لهم المتقدم

Those who went ahead of them were misled

زاهق عنهم والمتأخر

and those legged behind them were ruined

الحق . له والالزم

and those who adhered to them were united with

وآل محمد على صلي اللهمالحصين الكهف محمدO` Allah! Bless Mohammad and his progeny who are

the strong refuge,

المستكين المضطر وغياث

rescue for the distressed and the helpless,

الهاربين وملجأ

shelter for the fugitives

المعتصمين . وعصمة

and the protection of the seekers of protection.

وآل محمد على صلي اللهمكثيرة صالة محمد

O` Allah! Bless Mohammad and his Progeny with

plenty of Your blessings

ولحق رضا لهم تكونأداء محمد وآل محمد

وقضاءwhich should please them and for Mohammad and

his family a fulfillment of obligation and its

conclusion.

رب يا وقوة منك بحول العالمين.

By Your strength and might,

O` the Lord of the Worlds!

وآل محمد على صلي اللهماألبرار الطيبين محمد

األخيارO` Allah! Bless Mohammad and his progeny, the pure,

the virtuous, the good.

حقوقهم أوجبت الذين

whose rights You have made obligatory

طاعتهم وفرضت وواليتهم .

And made incumbent their obedience and

acknowledge their mastership.

وآل محمد على صلي اللهمبطاعتك قلبي واعمر محمد

O` Allah! Bless Mohammad and his progeny and fill

my heart with Your obedience,

بمعصيتك تخزني والقترت من مواساة وارزقني

رزقك من عليهDo not humiliate me with

Your disobedience and grant me compassion for the one whom You have

given less of Your sustenance

فضلك من علي وسعت بما

through what You have granted me of Your grace,

عدلك من علي ونشرت

And spread for me of Your justice,

ظلك تحت وأحييتني

And have kept me alive under Your Protection.

نبيك شهر رسلك سيد وهذا

This is the month of Your Prophet

The Chief of Your Messengers,

شعبان

Sha’ban,

بالرحمة منك حففته الذي والرضوان

Which You have lightened (the burden)

by Your mercy and pleasure,

صلى الله رسول كان الذيفي لك يدأب وآله عليه الله

وقيامه صيامهin which the Messenger of Allah blessings of Allah be

on him and his family, persevered in fasting and standing up (in worship)

وأيامه لياليه في

During its night and days,

إكرامه في لك بخوعا وإعظامه

Favorable with You in giving it (Sha’ban) its

(due) respect and honor,

حمامه محل إلى

till his last breath.

االستنان على فأعنا اللهمفيه بسنته

O Allah, so help us to follow his ways in it,

لديه الشفاعة ونيل

and achieve his intercession.

شفيعا لي واجعله اللهم مشفعا

O Allah, make him for me,an intercessor, a medium(one whose intercession is

accepted)

مهيعا إليك وطريقا

A smooth path towards You,

متبعا له واجعلني

Make me from his followers,

القيامة يوم ألقاك حتىراضيا عني

until I meet you on the day of Judgement and You

are pleased with me,

غاضيا ذنوبي وعن

overlooking my sins,

الرحمة منك لي أوجبت قد والرضوان

awarding me from You, mercy and pleasure

القرار دار وأنزلتني

And sending me to the eternal home,
