• April 2007– SRS management supported the establishment of RPT program

at ATC• 2007-2008

– Benchmarking trip to University of Missouri and Linn State Technical College - Jim Stafford (SRNS) & Tracy Pierner (ATC)

• August 2008– ATC started classes leading to a Certificate in RADCON

• August 2009– Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Radiation

Protection Technology– Approximately sixty-seven students enrolled in first year– ARRA begins

SRNS/ATC Partnership TimelineSRNS/ATC Partnership Timeline

• SRNS anticipated the need of 132 Radiological Control Technicians to support ARRA scope

• Early 2009– Jim Stafford approaches ATC to accelerate

graduation of RPTs– ATC proposes acceleration of Certificate

students

SRNS/ATC PartnershipSRNS/ATC Partnership

• ATC will provide– Staff and necessary radiological instrumentation / equipment– Complete new scheduling paradigm– Curriculum development/modification– Increased classroom instruction– Nuclear laboratory training requirements– Acceleration from 2 years to 9 months

• SRNS provided funding– July 2009 $50,000.00– December 2009 $50,000.00– August 2010 $50,000.00– January 2011 $50,000.00

• The agreement included four groups of graduate "fast-track" students:– December 2009 - Approximately 10-12 students– August 2010 - Approximately 10-12 students– December 2010 - Approximately 10-15 students– January 2011 - Approximately 10-15 students
