Introduction:-For any land-based structure, the foundation is very important and has to be strong to support the entire structure.

In order to get the foundation to be strong, the soil around it plays a very critical role. So, to work with soils, we need to have proper knowledge about their properties and factors which affect their behavior.

5

The process of soil stabilization helps to achieve the required properties in a soil needed for the construction work.

Soil stabilization is the process of altering some soil properties by different methods, mechanical or chemical in order to produce an improved soil material which has all the desired engineering properties.

6

Literature Review:-

To study the properties of soil. (a)Atterberg Limits (b)Particle Size Distribution (c)Specific Gravity (d)Shear Strength etc.

Mechanism of stabilization.Study of Fiber material.

7

Problem statement:- Soil is one of nature’s most abundant

construction materials. Almost all construction is built with or upon soil . When unsuitable construction condition are encountered Then we have to:

Find a new construction site. Redesign the structure so it can be

constructed on poor soil. Remove the poor soil and replace it with

good soil. Improve the engineering properties of the

site soils.

8

Objectives:-

The objective of our project is to use polypropylene fiber as stabilizing agent in soil to improve its properties. Different tests will be performed in order to check the effects of stabilizing agent.

9

Methodology:- We will collect soil sample and will perform

different tests on pure soil and mixed with polypropylene fiber.

Following tests will be performed on the sample.

Sieve analysis Moisture content Atterberg's limit Specific gravity Direct Shear test Unconfined compression test
