Proceedings of the SEARCH/MAXSIMA 2014 International Workshop, Karlsruhe, Germany, October 7-10, 2014

Preface

This workshop aims at bringing together international experts working in the development ofadvanced heavy-liquid-metal (HLM) cooled systems. This event is close to the conclusion ofthe FP7 project SEARCH (Safe Exploitation Related Chemistry for HLM Reactors). Its mainachievements, as well as its synergies with the ongoing FP7 project MAXSIMA (Methodology,Analysis and Experiments for the “Safety in MYRRHA assessment) and other internationalactivities are keys for promoting the technical information exchange. The scope of this workshop includes several aspects related to the safety of HLM systems, inaddition to overviews on the status of ongoing HLM projects. Both experimental and simulationcontributions are welcome. In particular, the workshop covers (but is not restricted to) thefollowing topics.

• Core thermal-hydraulic and core components

• Steam generator and cooling safety

• Coolant chemistry control and heavy-liquid metal corrosion

• Fuel and fuel safety

• Safety analyses

From 7th to 10th October, 2014 this workshop included 5 keynote lectures and 41 technicalpresentations, covering all above-mentioned topics. The corresponding presentation and shortabstract are compiled in these proceedings, following the order of the program. Moreover, analphabetic index of authors is listed at the end. With 85 registered participants, the workshop succeeded to enhance the information exchangewithin the international community working on heavy-liquid-metal systems. A list of partici-pants with contact information and a group photo can be found in the following pages.
