Throughout this 1 semester course (.5 credit),we will engage in the study of the following concepts:• Monoprints• Relief Printmaking• Linoleum Block• Collagraph• Batik Techniques• Color Mixing/ Color Theory• Drawing (Perspective)• Principles of Design• Symbolism/Metaphor• Art History/Contemporary Art Studies• Reflective Writing & Discussion• • Please be prepared to write about and discuss art concepts.

Relief printmaking

• Simply means creating a relief (a surface that is set out from the background, in order to print the raised surface) For example; woodcut, linoleum block and collagraph.

Collagraph to create architectural elements

We will be creating a final collagraph project, using textured areas to create a “corner of a room” image.

The class will learn the basics of drawing one and two point perspective , in order to enhance the project outcome.

Batik Techniques

• Wax/Resist & Dye or Paint on Fabric.
