Practical 2P12Semiconductor Devices

Sebastian Bonilla and Sabrina Wang

Hilary Term 2020

What you will learn in this practical

• Identify the main parts and components of an electrical circuit

• Construct basic circuits and record observations of electrical quantities using data acquisition electronics

• Produce graphical representations of the variables measured

• Compare and analyse the observations made in relation to the theoretical expectations for the devices under study.

• Assess and propose practical applications for such semiconductor devices.

Asking for help1. Check that you have switched the supply on.

2. Check that the meter is on, correctly connect and on the setting for the required measurement you want to conduct.

3. Check your connections (walk yourself through every electrical connection and identify any missing/wrong ones).

4. Watch the online tutorials for Labview before diving into the program.

5. For theory questions refer to the lecture notes for the course, references in the script, and Wikipedia.

6. If you have checked everything carefully and still your circuit or your labview program do not seem to work, as the TA first.
