PILF Auction: Thursday, January 26, 2012 Applications available: Late February Applications Due: Monday, March 26, 2012 at 3pm Interviews: Saturday, April 7, 2012 Grants announced the following week! PILF Pro Bono Luncheon: Wednesday, April 11, 2012
Requirements - Auction
2-3 hours for the auction The Auction is on Thursday, January 26, 2011 in the
USC Tutor Center An email about volunteering will go out the week after
finals, please don't send emails about it until then Please notify us if you are no longer pursuing a grant
and do not want to volunteer for the auction - grants@uscpilf.org
Requirements – Pro Bono
25 Hours Minimum Must be recorded by the time the grants application
is due – March 26 , 2011 Record in 15 minute blocks, travel time not included Street Law: _______ ????
Write a short report at the end of the summer Logging Hours!!! mylaw portal
Requirements – Application
Applications available: Late February Applications Due: Monday, March 26, 2012 at 3pm Essays will be evaluated for the appropriateness
of the project and effort put into the essay
Requirements -Interview
Interviews: Saturday, April 7, 2012 10-15 Minute Interview Not the morning after Law Prom!!!
New Program
Some students decide to take summer positions at Pro Bono projects when its too late to complete all the needed requirements for the PILF Summer Grant
After March 26, 2012 there may still be opportunity to qualify for a $1500 Grant (subject to availability of funds)
Anyone may apply who secures an appropriate Public Interest Job and was not granted a PILF Summer Grant (for whatever reason) AND Completes 10 hours of Pro Bono work Application but no interview
Named Grants
Each year several student organizations help fund named grants The student org leadership has the opportunity to
select amongst PILF Grant recipients
Other Grants
Irmas Supports a USC Law School graduate for a full year in the
area of public interest law. Lash
$3,000 bar stipend for a graduating third year student pursuing a career in public interest law.
Paul Davis $2,000 scholarship awarded to second year student given in
honor of Paul Davis ’98.
Can I work for the Government?
Yes, maybe. The student’s commitment to public service and
essay for the grant are evaluated in determining whether they qualify. It is possible for a project to hire two students and only of the students win the grant.
