Introduction: Module 3 Nail Polishing In this module, we will learn about:

YOUR KIT WILL CONTAIN: 10 Different colors of nail polish 1 Hand sanitizer 1 Nail polish remover Bag of cotton balls 1 pack of Nail stickers Glitter Nail design tools such as dotters and stripe tools Table cloth Please do not share any of your supplies with other volunteers. Your Team Lead will have extra supplies if needed.

1. Lay out your table cloth/work mat 2. Place all polishes on the work table 3. Set out remover, polish, sanitizer and tools 4. Wait for a client

Choosing a style with your client 1. Ask your client what color she prefers 2. After a color is selected, ask if she wants glitter 3. Ask if she wants stickers 4. Ask if she wants a design (if you have the right tools) 5. If your client wants a design, help her make a selection of the

style

SIMPLE 1 COLOR STEP 1: Ask your client what color she prefers STEP 2: Apply a base coat (if supplied) STEP 3: Polish your client’s nails with the color she

selected STEP 4: Apply a second coat of the color FINISH: After the polish is dry, apply a top coat

TO APPLY STRIPES STEP 1: Apply the base coat (if supplied) to the nails. STEP 2: Pick two colors of nail polish; one for the base coat and one

for the stripes. STEP 3: Apply the base color. STEP 4: Allow the base color to dry (about 5 minutes). STEP 5: Dip the detailing tool into the chosen second color. Carefully

start at one side and stripe each nail. You can be creative but be sure you are neat and consistent.

STEP 6: Apply top clear coat (if supplied) and allow to dry.

GLITTER STEP 1: Apply a base coat (if supplied) on the nails STEP 2: Apply a coat of the client’s selected color STEP 3: Apply a second coat of the color STEP 4: Apply glitter while the nail polish is still wet STEP 5: Allow to dry thoroughly and wipe away

POLKA DOTS STEP 1: Apply base coat (if supplied) to the nails. STEP 2: Select two or three colors of nail polish (one for the base c

coat and one or two for the dots). STEP 3: Apply the base color. STEP 4: Allow base color to dry (about 5min.). STEP 5: Dip the dotting tool into the selected second color and

carefully dot the nails. Allow to Dry. STEP 6: Apply clear coat (if supplied).

Conduct during your polish

1. Be kind to all clients. 2. Apply hand sanitizer and ask the client to rub;

have them rub to dry. 3. Be sure to wash your hands following the steps in

Module 1. 4. During your polish give all of your attention to the

client. 5. Strike up a conversation, get to know your client

and HAVE FUN!!!

Disagreements with Clients

1. Never argue with a client. 2. If a client makes you feel uncomfortible, simply excuse yourself

and report to your Team Lead. Explain the situation and allow your Team Lead to handle any issues.

3. If a client changes her mind and requests a different color/design

in the middle of a polish, just be patient. Simply remove the polish and start again.

After client cleaning up

1. Close all nail polish bottles securely and return them neatly to your Caboodle.

2. Using your polish remover, clean all tools thoroughly. Dried polish left on tools will cause damage.

3. Throw away all cotton balls, paper towels and other trash.

4. If you do not have another client, please sit patiently until the end of the event.

5. Please do not leave the event until signing out with your Team Lead.

1. Have everything set up and be prepared for your clients prior to their arrival.

2. Get to know your client by starting a conversation. 3. Take your time when polishing a client so they will enjoy your

companionship. Have fun!!!! 4. Practice at home with your friends and family members. 5. Never have a disagreement with a client. 6. Always clean up after yourself
