E V E N T S :
when we are told "Remember,
man is dust, and unto dust you
shall return."
Our community will gather to
share a Lenten Dinner on
Friday, April 11 and reflect on
Christ’s journey to Calvary.
SJCS students are preparing
to present the Stations of the
Cross. Third graders will sing
and Fourth graders will act.
Our School is also participat-
ing in a Lenten Donation
Drive for our Sister Diocese
from Dominican Republic.
March began with Ash
Wednesday Mass, celebrated
by Bishop Noonan. This
marked the beginning of the
Season of Lent. It is a season
of penance and reflection,
which prepares us for Christ's
Resurrection on Easter Sun-
day, through which we attain
redemption.
Bishop Noonan talked about
the three pillars of Lenten
observance: prayer, fasting
and almsgiving. Our foreheads
are marked with ashes to
humble our hearts and remind
us that life passes away on
Earth. We remember this

“The Diocesan Art Show is a
critical component as to who
we are as Cathol ic
educators, As Catholic
schools , we promote,
educate and form the whole
person, and the arts are one
of those components. We

St. James Choir singing at St. James Cathedral.
Each year , Pueri Cantores organizes Choral Festivals and
Masses for Roman Catholic Parishes and School Choirs
(welcoming choristers grades 4-12) in Cathedrals and
churches around the United States. The singers join to-
gether as one large choir to prepare and present great
liturgical music whose repertoire spans some 1500
years—from Gregorian chant and polyphony to master-
works of the Twentieth and Twenty-first Centuries. This
year, the American Federation Pueri Cantores Florida
Choral Festival & Mass for Treble and Mixed Voice Choirs
took place at St. James Cathedral. Dr. Richard Robbins
was the Conductor and Mrs. Jennings– St.James Children
& Youth Choir Director-was the organist for the event.
The congregation really enjoyed the Mass they presented.
We are so proud of the St. James Children’s Choir and
the St. James Jubilate Youth Choir. Congratulations to our
SJCS students who are in each choir!
