STUDENT ASSIMENTS

AccelerationWhen an object's velocity

changes, it accelerates. Acceleration shows the change in velocity in a unit time. Velocity is measured in meters per second, m/s, so acceleration is measured in (m/s)/s, or m/s2, which can be both positive and negative.

1) Consider the graph given in the last exercise above. What property of the line from (0,0) to (t,v) corresponds to acceleration.

As the speed increases .The time takes decreases too.because of this the acceleration also increases ,so these lines show the acceleration of car

2) Write an expression that relates acceleration to velocity and time.RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN a,v and t

a=v(r)/tIn here there is a directly proportion betweenand v,there is a not directly proportion between v and t also a and t.As the a increases v gets higher and t gets

lower.

DISTANCE FORMULA3) Use the information obtained from the exercises above to find a formula for distance traveled during a period of constant acceleration.

Distance=speed.time

v.t/2v.t

v.t/2

4)A sprinter can cover 100 m in 10 about seconds. Sketch a speed/time graph of how you think a 100-meter sprinter might run the course.

5) Assume you can run a 5-mile in 25 minutes.The course is over level ground. Sketch a speed/time graph for your race
