INTRODUCTION• About 71 percent of the Earth's

surface is water-covered.

• Water is the driving force of all nature

• Water sustains Life

• What is raw water?

• Water sources

• SDG 2015-2030

PROBLEM STATEMENT

Accessability to water

Lack access to pipedor borehole water

Have access toborehole water

Have access topiped water

My design will attempt to solve the issue of accessibility to clean, safe drinking water; reduce water-related diseases; improve livelihood.

OBJECTIVEOverall Objective

• To design a raw water treatment plant that will supply safe and clean water that will meet the demand of people in Njoro area.

Specific Objectives

• To establish the impurities and contamination level in the raw water. (Raw water Quality tests)

• To establish the water utilization/ demand in the area.

• To determine the specifications for the treatment works and related components

Statement of Scope

• Appropriate design model with appropriate design considerations

JUSTIFICATION

Raw water treatment and distribution

•water supply masterplan and design.

Economic development

•Lure investors to the areas.

• Improved living conditons.

• improved agricultural activity

Social development

•An empowered community

•Improved health

•Improved educational standards.

•Reduce child labour

RESULTS & DISCUSSIONS3 water Samples taken for test..

The average results shown besides.

The outstanding factor from water quality test is:-

• the high level of Biological pollution in the river water.

•High level of turbidity experienced and colour fail.

SUMMARY• Specific Objective 1: Water Quality Test performed at the University

Water Laboratory helped determine the raw water quality.

• Specific Objective 2: Data (Example Population) I used to obtain

water utilisation demand.

• Specific Objective 3: With water utilisation need, the specifications for

the raw water treatment works was achieved; Sharing of walls between

some tanks/basins, water conveyance by gravity: reduce construction

costs: minimize the pumping costs respectively

results to reduced water cost to the end users.

CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION

• This design of a water treatment plant meets the general design criteria for water treatment plants. It meets its set objective catering for the rising water demands of Njoro Area as per the Sustainable Development Goal and contributes to Kenya Vision 2030 goals.

• Before implementation the following should be done: design of other civil works, a water distribution system, BOQ, A sewerage system design and comprehensive EIA.
