Am I on the Preliminary List of Electors? Find out through Voterlookup.ca!
Are you recorded as an eligible elector for the upcoming municipal elections within the Township of Tiny? Voterlookup.ca is a
convenient way to confirm whether you are on the Preliminary List of Electors used to prepare the Voters’ List for Election Day.
This new service offered by the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) replaces other enumeration activities
such as the enumeration cards and is available through the Township of Tiny’s website.
By way of background, MPAC is legislatively responsible for collecting occupant information (name, date of birth, citizenship and
school support) for municipal, District Social Services Administration Boards and school board elections, and keeping up-to-date
population figures for every municipality in Ontario.
This information is used by MPAC to create a Preliminary List of Electors (PLE). The PLE is provided to municipalities, school
boards and District Social Services Administration Boards to help create the final Voters’ Lists, used for municipal and school
board elections.
Through Voterlookup.ca you can confirm and/or update your electoral information in a few easy steps.
To confirm whether you are on the Preliminary list of Electors, please visit our website at www.tiny.ca /Your Government/Election
2014.

that you receive future correspondence from the Township (i.e., tax
bills, public notices, future election materials, etc.)
Thank you.
Township of Tiny is Ontario’s First Blue Community
The Township of Tiny is honoured to be recognized as the first Blue Community in Ontario and
the third in all of Canada. In order to become a Blue Community, a municipality must recognize
water as a human right, ban the sale of bottled water in civic spaces and support the public
ownership of water utilities.
To learn more about the Township’s Blue Community status, please visit our website at
www.tiny.ca.
2014 SEPTIC RE-INSPECTION PROGRAM
Please note that commencing in the Spring of 2002, the
Corporation of the Township of Tiny began a re-inspection
program of subsurface sewage systems within the municipality.
The program will continue in 2014 with the properties in the
northwest quadrant of the Township (north of Concession 16
and west of Methodist Point Road) being inspected during the
summer months. All properties with any sewage system will be
subject to this inspection up to and including systems installed in 2003. If your sewage
system was installed in 2004 or after you will not be subject to this program.
A letter will be mailed to all property owners in this area in early April 2014. Please be
sure to read this letter to help you understand what you, as a property owner, need to
provide to the Township. This program is carried out by C.C. Tatham & Associates,
sewage system approval agent for the Township.
We appreciate your co-operation with this proactive program that is focused
on ensuring the continued enjoyment of a clean and healthy environment here
in the Township of Tiny.

Removal of ATV Use from the Tiny Trail effective January 1, 2015
At its meeting of June 30, 2014, the Township of Tiny Council passed By-law #14-042 which prohibits the use of
ATV’s on the Tiny Trail effective January 1, 2015. Fines range from $150.00 when a ticket is issued and up to
$100,000, at the court’s discretion, if the matter proceeds to court.
Background
The Trails and Active Transportation Master Plan was completed in June 2011 following extensive public
participation and stakeholder engagement. The Master Plan was adopted by the Township of Tiny Council wherein
one of the goals of the plan was the removal of ATV use from the Tiny Trail. The use of ATV’s are considered
motorized transportation and the continued use of the ATV’s along the Tiny Trail was not supportive of safe,
increased active use on the Township’s Rail Trail. In efforts to increase public awareness regarding the pending
ATV removal, this recommendation has also been identified on all 2013 ATV Trail Permits and the Trails and Active
Transportation Brochure.
Additionally, please be reminded that ATV’s are prohibited on all roadways in Ontario unless the municipality has
passed a by-law to make an exception to this rule. The Township of Tiny has not passed such a by-law and,
therefore, the use of an ATV on the roadway is strictly prohibited.
To report Trail abuse or any other by-law enforcement violations, please contact the By-law Department at (705)
526-4136. To report an ATV using the roadways, please contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122. A list of our by-laws is
available for public review on our municipal website at www.tiny.ca.
For additional information or questions please contact the Township of Tiny By-law Department.

FROM: Fire and Emergency Services Department PRESS RELEASE: October 7, 2013
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
FLYING/SKY LANTERNS
(Tiny, Ontario) – The Township of Tiny has amended its Open Air Burning By-law to prohibit the Use
of Flying Lanterns.
Flying Lanterns, also known as Sky Lanterns or Chinese Lanterns, are a small version of a hot-air
balloon. Fueled by an open flame, they are capable of climbing to extreme heights and travelling
great distances.
Once ignited and released, they drift uncontrollably and, in numerous cases, have landed on roof
tops, in forests or on other combustibles while still ignited. In many cases, fires have resulted.
In response to numerous complaints and concerns, Council has decided to ban the use of flying/sky
lanterns in a proactive attempt to prevent fires in both structures and forested areas.
Any person convicted of contravening this by-law is liable to a fine of up to $5,000 and the costs
associated with any fire suppression activities resulting from the use of a Flying Lantern.

Annual maintenance of your fuel-burning equipment and appliances by a licensed
Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) contractor is the most important step
in preventing the dangers of CO build up. Installing and maintaining CO alarms are
your back-up line of defence.
If appliances that use fuels like natural gas, oil, wood, propane and kerosene are not
maintained, have their venting damaged or blocked or are not getting enough airflow,
dangerous levels of carbon monoxide (CO) can build up.
Don’t Let Snow or Ice Build Up on Your Gas Meter, Pressure Regulator or Exhaust
Vents
During the winter, keep an eye on your outdoor natural gas
meter, pressure regulator, gas piping and appliance vents.
Snow or ice build-up could damage your gas meter or pressure
regulator, interrupt your gas service or cause an appliance to
malfunction. This can create a serious safety hazard such as
carbon monoxide poisoning.
CARBON MONOXIDE – A SILENT KILLER
BE PREPARED, NOT SCARED • Are you prepared for an emergency like the ice storm which
hit Southern Ontario this winter and all the way to the
Maritime Provinces?
• If the unexpected happens tomorrow are you prepared? A
simple bag of items may be the difference between life and
death. In the case of an emergency it may take up to 72
hours before emergency crews can reach you. Think about
the items you might need in the first 72 hours of an
emergency or disaster. Find out how by visiting the following
