Our Family

Steve: He's the dad. When he was in highschool, he was the quarterback for his team. They almost won the championship!

Molly: She's the mom. Molly loves to cook, and remembers the weekends she spent with her grandma learning to cook delicious food.

Brad: He's the son, and loves to play sports. Brad is in grade 9 and really enjoys his AP Science class.

Katie: She's the daughter, and really really wants her own pony. Katie is in grade 7 and wants to be on the show So You Think You Can Dance.

The Job Hunt

Steve: We decided that we wanted Steve to be in the business world. After looking up colleges and universities in the Ottawa area, we decided that Algonquin College offered a great program in Marketing (Business Administration - Marketing). We then looked up (using Monster.ca) possible jobs that would require a degree of this sort. We found a posting for an `Executive Assistant - Marketing Coordinator` with the Pollack Group. This firm is located close to public transportation, as it is located on 225 Metcalfe St.

The Job Hunt

Molly: We wanted to keep Molly`s profession in the same `area`, so we looked up accounting jobs within the Ottawa area. We found a posting (Monster.ca) for a `Payroll Administrator` at Hays Specialist Recruitment (Canada). This job required Molly to be a Certified Professional Accountant (CPA), so we then looked up potential schools that she could have graduated from. We decided that Seneca College`s Accounting Program (Accounting and Payroll) looked the best. The great thing about this job, is that it too is located in the downtown area, so public transportation is an option

Our Carbon Footprint

Nutrition

For the weekly food menu we followed the Canadian Food Guide guidelines. We ate Breakfast, snack, lunch,

snack, and dinner. This was hard to accomplish with our food budget, we went over because we had to buy some

items that would last for longer then one week.

Here is an example of one day of our menu:

Nutrition

Our monthly food bill comes to approximately $147.11

Getting Active

Our family tries to be very active. The children are signed up for organized teams: track

and swimming The parents participate in yoga, walking, and jogging

to stay fit. As a family we try to involve ourselves in as much

activity as we can every week.
