APPRENTICESHIPS
Apprenticeships combine real work experiences in a paid role,
with structured and supportive learning at college. Students
are full-time employees within the company and earn a
wage. After completing an Apprenticeship, students often
retain permanent roles with their employer. Universities are
increasingly accepting Apprenticeships as part of the entry
criteria for some courses and Higher Level Apprenticeships
can also offer an alternative route to Higher Education,
without the debt of university.

REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL COURSES
You will need to have:
Good attendance and achievement reports from your previous school or college and complete a successful college interview, demonstrating your interest and commitment to study.
A genuine interest in your chosen area of study.
Some courses will require students without a GCSE grade 9-4 in English or maths to undertake either a GCSE or Functional Skills as part of the condition of their chosen course.
Commit to our workplace values of being; respectful, professional, ambitious and resilient.
The majority of our courses will require students to undertake work experience placements as part of their course. Although the College will help and support this, students are encouraged to actively seek and secure their own work experience placement, including making the necessary travel arrangements to and from their place of work.
For courses that are two years in duration, progression to the second year will only be permitted upon successful completion of year one.

WHAT OUR STUDENTS THINK
A safe and friendly environment
Taneesha, Level 4 Foundation Diploma Art & Design Previous school: The Romsey School
“I chose to come here as I really liked how free it was, it’s not like school, it’s quite disciplined but you have the freedom to express yourself. I looked at another college first but decided on Eastleigh as I really liked the atmosphere here. It’s very friendly and everyone helps each other. We receive lots of help with our portfolio work and university applications. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do after the course, and being here helped me decide what to do next.”
Gypsie, Level 3 Built Environment Apprenticeship Previous school: St Anne’s School
“I work for Barratt Homes doing technical project management. I didn’t know what I wanted to do at school but I’ve always been interested in the housing industry, and I love watching Grand Designs! I initially started with another college after school, but then decided full-time studying wasn’t for me. I ended up doing work experience with Barratt Homes and they offered me an Apprenticeship. Everything I learn at college goes into my work.”
Connor, Level 3 Creative Media Production & Technology Previous school: The Romsey School
“I’ve wanted to be a games developer or 3D modeller since I was about 12, so I knew this was the right course for me. We’re shown how to use so many different software packages, such as 3DS max, Unity and Photoshop. I’ve increased my skills in 3D modelling, games design and video editing, and also my understanding of the industry. The tutors are really helpful and all have different specialisms.”
Jack, Level 2 Electrical Apprenticeship Previous school: Hampshire Collegiate School
“I’ve always been interested in being an electrician due to my family’s business, so I knew I wanted to pursue this route. I’m really enjoying the course. I was the only one from my school friends that did an Apprenticeship but I think it’s definitely a better option than doing A-levels. We come to college one week a month, which I think works as you get a lot of site experience too.”
Next step: HNC in Construction
Next step: Self-employed electrician
Next step: 3D Animation & Games BA (Hons) at Middlesex University
Next step: Fashion & Design BA (Hons) at Middlesex University
