Example: Should our borders be closed?

Persuasive Speaking

For those of you that want to express your opinions, but

don’t really care what others think…

something that you are passionate about.

Example: Why there should be animal rights

Impromptu- An on the spot speech on a topic or quote that you are

given.Example: “The early bird catches

everything). Domestic (DX)- A 7 minute speech over

current events in the US. Foreign (FX)- A 7 minute speech over

current events world wide. Each speech is given 30 minutes of prep

time to choose your topic, research the topic, write your speech, and memorize

it. Example (DX)- Is Obamacare going to fail? Example (FX)- Is Russia a corrupt nation?

to make your audience cry with laughter. The piece can be taken from a

book, play, or monologue.

or monologue.

Duo Interpretation-A 10 minute memorized piece, there

are no props allowed, and you and your partner may not look at or touch

one another

Why We’re Legit

The organizations we belong to each provide us with tournaments and

rules that vary between the different groups. These organizations

legitimize what we do:National Junior Forensics

League (NJFL)Florida Forensics League (FFL)

NJFL- NJFL stands for National Junior

Forensics League, which is a Speech and

Debate Honor Society. For each

speech you give at a tournament, or in

class, the NJFL will give you points, and

with those points, you obtain STICKERS and

CERTIFICATES. Once you join the NJFL,

you become a lifetime member!

When studentscompete, theyDRESS TO IMPRESS!

Girls- suit, collared shirt, panty hose, and dress shoes.

Boys- suit, collared shirt, tie, and dress shoes.

FYI

To be fair, we should probably tell you about the way a

tournament runs…

Most of our tournaments happen once a month at an after-school tournament.

This involves a bus ride with people we enjoy talking to. We also compete at

Broward Novice Champs (Districts) and Novice States, which are a couple of days long, and are at the end of the

year.

Franklin Falcons Forensic TeamAside from winning, our philosophy is

that talent is just talent, but work and integrity are essential. With

those two qualities, anyone can find success in forensics. Therefore,

EVERYONE can and should maximize his or her potential in

forensics activities.
