One point perspective drawing

Have a look the picture.

Create a horizon line, then create a point on the horizon line (vanishing point)Practice by drawing simple box shapes with low and high angles.

If you finish quickly choose an area where the light is coming from and shade in.

Have a look at my FB Live Session where I will demonstrate this technique

Rene Magritte

Can you see the one point perspective in his paintings?

Useful skill to have

Both of these are drawn in perspective.

What is perspective? How are the 2 different?

I will demonstrate 2 point perspective also in one of my FB Live Sessions so keep a look out…until then, lets see the difference of what you are observing with a typical cuboid

2 point perspective you are seeing the corner of the shape.1 point perspective you are looking at the flat area of the shape straight ahead

Video on drawing a cityscape in 2 point perspective

You will find LOTS of examples on you tube for one point and two point perspective drawings.

So do some research and find something that would really interest you to practice this technique

You can begin by finding great perspectives and taking photographs to draw from.

Ideas for Perspective Drawing

Taking your own photographs that play with perspective means you can plan your artwork.

Interiors and landscapes work well. But maybe a still life photo taken from the far edge of a table?Trialling different perspectives and angles could lead you to a more interesting piece of Art.Cubists worked in this way…but that’s for another day
