Pipeline companies are currently not being held responsible for damages on people’s property and businessesThe controversy question is should they be held accountable/responsible since they are not taking the proper steps necessary to maintain their pipelinesPeople question whether they should be responsible, but the laws are outdated and weakly enforcedThe government has many regulations on pipeline safety although much isn’t done to keep people safe

WHAT’S THE ISSUE?

Pipelines make it easier to transport mass amounts of oil to certain areas of the country

Everything transported in these pipelines is sent to storage facilities and refineries so it can be used to run our cars and heat our homes and businesses

Pipeline damages create destruction to private wells, bodies of water, homes and businesses

Laws are not updated and there isn’t enough enforcement on current laws that protect people from damages

Thousands of gallons of gasoline and oils can spill in a short period of time causing a very high amount of damage

CHALLENGES PRESENTED

Animals Nature Drinking water/bodies

of water Private property Taxes

Who/What is BEING AFFECTED?

Peoples property can be permanently damaged

Water ways can be destroyed

Animal life will decrease

LONGTERM CONCEQUENCES

Stronger laws and proper enforcement of the laws should be set in place

Proper inspection can be done regularly to fix breaks or damages and better avoid spills

Make a video on YouTube about this issue and let the world see it

Make petitions Mail the government Present speeches in

public places and help people become educated on this topic
