Ohms Law
Ohm’s Law
Ohm’s law is used to describe the relationship between Voltage (V),
Current (I) and Resistance (R). If you know any of two of these values it is
possible to calculate the third. Ohm’s law can be arranged in three ways
depending on what you want to calculate.
Ohm’s Law equation
V = I x RI = V / RR = V / I
Note: V = Voltage in Volts, I = Current in Amps, R = Resistance in Ohm’s
Ohm’s Law Triangle
Example Calculations
Voltage: I = 10amps R= 1 ohmWe use the equation V = I x RV = 10 x 1 therefore V = 10
Current: V = 12 volts R = 2 ohms We use the equation I = V/R I = 12/2 therefore I = 6
Example Calculations
Resistance:V = 100 volts I = 40 ampsWe use the equation R = V/I R = 100/40 therefore R = 2.5 ohms
