The Ovaherero and Nama activistsEsther Miunjangue (chair of the Ovaherero GenocideFoundation) and Sima Luipert (vice chair of the GenocideTechnical Committee of the Nama Traditional LeadersAssociation) talk about women's resistance and theircontinuing struggle for recognition of the genocide by theGerman government. They explain why the affectedcommunities demand an official apology and reparations.With this event, Leipzig Postkolonial would like tocontribute to a stronger public awareness of Germany’scolonial legacies, and about historical and politicalresponsibility.The panel will be in English.
