While visiting Stefans website1 last winter, I waspleased to discover Stefan maintains an olderBMW R100GSPD in his rental fleet, the exactBMW model I use for my domestic travels. Thiswas the bike for me, so we reserved it for ourseven day Swiss adventure.

We had arrived at the Schwing-und-lplerfest.
The Schwing-und-lplerfest at the Engstlenalp Hotel
Yes, I was a little skeptical of spending most of
our day at a Swiss wrestling meet, but my faithin Vahan was well-placed! A carnival-likeatmosphere was apparent in this beautiful greenSwiss valley. Centered around two circularsawdust arenas behind the Hotel Engstlenalp, theSchwing-und-lplerfest was circled by an array oftraditional food and beverage tents, along withdozens of long tables and chairs. Many attendeeswore traditional Swiss garments and hats. Mens
and womens choirs and alpenhorns of variouslengths serenaded the crowd.
Great moving displays, like a parade of previousschwing champions with their trophy bells, anddairy cattle lavishly decorated with mountainflowers and painted bells, were out and about.
Then there was wrestling. SchGerman schwingen "to swing"sport of Switzerland. Wrestler

The following minutesare from the AMCA BoardMeeting held September 2, 2010. Ive included
these minutes as provided by the AMCASecretary.
Your AMCA BoardBy Rocky Halter, President National AMCA
We had eight hours in our Davenport Boardmeeting last Thursday, 2 September, withanother 100% turnout of our Directors. Here arethe highlights:
2011 Board
This was at the end of the meeting, but I knowyou will want to know the results. Myself, JimMoore and Kevin Valentine stood down after 12years Board service, and Del Schumacher aftereight. We elected Steve Dawdy, Fred Davis,Lonnie Campbell and Roger Smith to serve fromJanuary 2011.
The first three are Chapter Presidents in Iowa,Ohio and South Carolina, while Roger, who willleave his present position as Secretary to theFoundation Board, hails from Michigan. Thatgives us a younger Board, with better geographicbalance and interests in all makes of antiquebikes. As to Officers, Ray Dhue will remain asTreasurer, but Richard Spagnolli takes over from
me as President, Trudi Johnson-Richards takesover from Del as Vice President, and SteveSlocombe replaces Trudi as Secretary. These arebig changes from when I first came on the Board, and I believe I leave our Club in safe hands.
Judging
Chief Judge Steve Dawdy presented the AMCAJudging Handbook and Policy and Operating
Procedures for the Judging Committee, and thesewere approved. We also approved a resumptionof the Judging Seminar program, with a 2011session at Anamosa, Iowa, penciled in before thenext Davenport National meet.
We also agreed on new judging awards for nextyear which are just as prestigious as the previous
