Incursion, Tissue Fairy visit to

Kindergarten, online reports published on

Thank you

As this is my last newsletter for the term, I

would like to take the opportunity to

sincerely thank the students, staff, parents

and community for their hard work and

commitment to our students and for all

your support throughout the term. Many

items of our School Improvement Plan

have been completed including the

communication parent portal, welcoming

back the community on site. It has been a

real privilege to lead this wonderful school.

Term 3 has been such an inspiring,

engaging and successful term for our

school with many things that have taken

place. Just to mention a few; the amazing

OSPS adventure play space opening and

picnic on the green, Parent

Communication Portal launch, yarn-up

with indigenous families, Story Dogs mufti,

Reconciliation Day, FNC Dance Festival,

athletics carnival, excursions/incursions

(Stage 2 excursion, K – 2 Braveheart,

Planetarium), many sporting (cross-

country, athletics, basketball, netball,

soccer, rugby union) and academic

achievements (Public Speaking), K – 6 disco

and events. Congratulations Ocean Shores

PS. I wish you and your families a safe,

relaxing and happy break in order to be

ready for another busy term ahead. Term

3 resumes on Tuesday 13th July.

Special P & C Meeting – WEEK 1;

Tuesday 13/7/21

I had a call from Megan Johnson – Director

Educational Leadership on Wednesday re

the principal position. The director

informed me that 'staffing has now

declared the position vacant therefore

representatives from the teaching staff and

P & C will need to be elected and the

elected nominees need to be supplied to

the director by the end of week 1, term 3.'

Therefore, the P & C of Ocean Shores

Public School will need to hold a special

or an extraordinary P & C meeting on

Tuesday 13/07/2021, Week 1

at 6pm with all financial members

invited. This extraordinary meeting will be

to select a P & C Panel Representative for

the Merit Selection process for the

principal position at Ocean Shores Public

School.

Surprise Pampering

Yesterday I had a beautiful surprise by

K/6G (Millie, Jade & Charlotte). Karyn and

Sue and called the office and asked if I

could go to their classroom. When I

arrived I received a pampering surprise.

The girls gave me a hand massage, back

massage using the back massager as well as

they were giving other teachers facial masks and manicures. The reason the girls were having a day spa was the end of their

PDH unit – ‘Personal Hygiene’. What a great idea and thank you K/6G for being so thoughtful. It was so hard to then go back

to work in the last session, as I was so relaxed.

Construction

Thank you to all the community for being patient re all the construction that has taken place over the first half the year. Fingers

crossed that the construction should be finished during the holidays and all the disruptions to our learning environment can

start getting back to normal.

School Security

Just a reminder if you see anything

suspicious or any security issues after school hours particularly on the weekend or in the school holidays, please contact school

security immediately. If we all look after our school and keep an eye out, hopefully our school will remain a safe, secure and

beautiful place. SCHOOL SECURITY: 1300 880 021

1/2H News

We have had a fabulous time together in 1/2H this term. If

you didn't hear about it, we had a naughty bin chicken

(ibis) ransack our classroom and everyone had a good

laugh at Mrs Huxtable chasing it around with a big stick!

With her creative flare, Lexi won the Reconciliation Week

colouring in competition our school held and went home with an

awesome $20 cash prize!

The Athletics Carnival was held on a lovely day. I am impressed

with all the students who entered in the age races and a special

congratulations to those who won!

The school disco was a blast from the past! Amber's hair was so

cool sticking straight up like a point on top of her head. The

Disco Fairies attended and danced the night away.

Well Done Lexi!

Heath, Lava, Noah, Anton and Jackson

were astounded learning that one

Cypress tree in Mexico has a diameter (width) of over 14 metres. The boys went

outside to measure 14 metres to see how wide the tree

would be. It was a long way!

We had a visit

from Ditto this

week.

It was a very entertaining show that got the

important message, of keeping yourself safe, across

in a non-threatening way.

We also enjoyed

Cooking in

Science this term. We made

playdough, Milo balls and

coconut ice.

We have also been learning

French knitting and

Straw Weaving Our classroom is always covered in

strands of wool.

Siarn’s Story - 4/5M

Teo Martin - 5P (I retell the text from each page to my group in my own words)

On Wednesday 23rd June I went to Grafton to play Rugby Union for Far North

Coast. I made the state team in my original sport position ‘centre’, inside the wing

and outside the second five. We are going to play in Mugee West of Sydney in the

bush. Our training is scattered all over the North Coast. First is Lennox Head, sec-

ond is Grafton and third in Crescent Head, 6 hours away. I am excited that I made

the team. By Teo Martin Congratulations Teo and we wish you all the best

from everyone at OSPS!

The Bears and the Cave Last night I was in my bed fast asleep. Suddenly I woke up and the moon was so bright. I raced down the stairs. To my surprise

a little bear was sitting on my chair. The bear was frightened and it ran away. Come back little bear I said. The next morning

the bear was back next to me. The bear brought me to a big cave with two big bears in it. The little bear took me inside the

cave and the bears put me into a little bed. I fell asleep….good night.

By Frederik Korge

Moonlight Last night I was woken up by the moon so I got out of my bed. I ran down the stairs and opened my door and there was a

bear. In the morning we were best friends because we had no other friends. When we were done playing she had to go home

but I stayed home. I was sad so in the morning she came back.

By Martha Smith

The Little Bear Last night I woke up and ran downstairs and I opened up the door. A little bear was sitting on my fluffy chair and the little bear

was asleep. In the morning I went downstairs and saw a sandcastle in my sandpit. I think it was the bear. The bear and I became

friends.

By Tigerlily Dredge

The Bear and Me It was a dark night. I woke up and I looked outside. I saw a bear and the moon. It had craters on it. I was frightened of the bear.

Mummy could we see the moon tonight.

By Arlo Smith

The Scary Bear When I woke up I looked out my window and the bright

moon was very beautiful. I ran down the stairs it was so

bright. I saw the bear and it was running. In the morning the

bear was sleeping next to me. I was scared so I ran back

inside. It came back to me the next day because I gave him

a pear.
