Natomas Park News
Dear Members,
The holiday season is here and many of us will have the opportunity to enjoy time with our friends and family, looking forward to the possibilities the New Year will bring. What better time to give thanks for the wonderful community of Natomas Park and reflect on the successes we have shared.
Natomas Park Master Association employs an average 32 employees a year – creating and
maintaining jobs in the Sacramento region.
Combined savings of $85,000 by presenting our annual audit and budget on CD versus printing/mailing, changing vendors for the collection of delinquent assessments, and creating in-house notices to homeowners prior to the collection process.
Club Master Plan expansion completed and presented to the membership.
Contracted to purchase natural gas wholesale - $10,250 estimated savings in 2012.
Year-to-date Club attendance increased by 5,587 – beating our 2011 record breaking year!
In our annual Club survey, the membership gave Club staff customer service a 92% approval rating and 90% for overall Club cleanliness.
Provided low cost entertainment – happy hour with live music, Hawaiian Luau, Kids Hallow-een Party, Family Bingo and more. Several new events were added - Multi-cultural day, wine tastings, community yard sale, movie night and clown day.
Club cost savings over $28,000 by negotiating contracts, repairing instead of replacing equip-ment, and performing repairs in-house.
Heated and maintained the lap pool for year round swimming.
Offered three new fitness classes, bringing our total number of FREE classes to 23 per week.
Held our Second Annual Green E-Waste/Shred event.
And my personal favorite - sold 5,602 grilled cheese sandwiches (at $1 each) between May and September!
We hope you enjoy all the benefits of living here in Natomas Park and appreciate the hard work our staff and management perform to continue making this the best place to call home. Your volunteer board will not hold it’s monthly board meeting in December, but we wish you a wonderful holiday season, as well as a safe and prosperous new year. See you in 2013!

Fitness”? Yes, the fitness program
that is changing the world has ar-
rived at the Club at Natomas Park.

the CrossFit methods that have
crowned the “Fittest on Earth”. The
CrossFit methodology is the pre-
ferred method of fitness and proven
effective amongst the military, po-
lice, firefighters, and elite athletes.
Do you think you are in great shape?
Prove it and join the Challenge. If you
are tired of the same old routines
EliteFit Challenge is for you. Train-
ing will be accomplished through
movements that are functional, con-
stantly varied, and once efficient tech-
nique is developed, it is performed at
high intensity. If you are ready to put
your current fitness level to the test
and prove you have what it takes to be
an elite athlete, The EliteFit Chal-
lenge will take you to the next level.
If you have reservations about en-
hancing your quality of life, forget
about them! Join the Challenge, train
and get results like the Fittest
on Earth!
The trainer, Ted Penman, a CrossFit
Level 1 certified trainer, has been a
personal trainer for over 15 years
and has utilized core strength and
conditioning methods in his pro-
gramming. He currently manages
and trains over 40 athletes at his cor-
porate wellness program utilizing
CrossFit methodology. His methods
in fitness, nutrition and wellness
have not only impacted the health of
his employees, but have positively
changed them in all aspects of life.
He firmly believes if you can suc-
ceed at his program, you can change
your life dramatically in all other
areas.
Program Details:
January 2 through March 29
Mon/Wed/Fri, 6:45-7:45 am
Fees: $150
Program includes nutritional plan-
ning and goal setting. For more in-
formation or to sign-up, Contact Bo
Banks at (916) 928-6833.
In September, 2010 the American Civil
Liberties Union (ACLU) sued the State
over schools, including charter schools,
charging students illegal fees. At the No-
vember 2010 State Board of Education
meeting the Board unanimously approved
the lawsuit, meaning that was a valid com-
plaint. The State Court subsequently ruled
that the lawsuit is valid and required the
state to address this problem. As a result of
the lawsuit, AB 1575 was passed to address
how this issue is to be resolved.
This workshop will go over the State
school fee rules, including what fees are
illegal, what fees schools may ask but can-
not require, and what fees can be required.
It will also explain the process for parents
to follow, as per AB 1575, when they are
asked to pay fees that are illegal.
Participants in the workshop will be pro-
vided copies of the presentation and sup-
porting documents on the State rules for
school fees. The workshop will last about
30 minutes.
The workshop is being offered on the
following dates:
January 30, 2013, 7:00 pm
February 2, 2013, 1:00 pm
February 6, 2013, 7:00 pm
February 9, 2013, 1:00 pm -Submitted by Gary Quiring , NPMA Homeowner
School Fee Rules Workshop
Natomas Park is forming a Travel Club for members
who like to travel with friends and neighbors. The Na-
tomas Park Travel Club (NPTC) will allow neighbors
to meet monthly and discuss travel ideas and plan ad-
ventures. The new club will allow NPMA members to connect with other
members and partner on trips. Excursions would include weekend getaways
and longer tour type vacations.
Planned travel would NOT be tied to any specific travel agency. Members
that choose to participate in a particular trip would determine how the trip
would be set up so that it best meets their needs and desires. If members
choose to use a travel agency, that will be the decision of the group that is
going on the trip.
Whenever possible, the trips would be advertised in the monthly NPMA
newsletter to encourage more members join and alert other homeowners of
the travel opportunities organized by the club.
The first meeting will be held in January at the Clubhouse announced in the
January HOA newsletter. Hope to see you there!

The North Natomas Transportation Management Association is a
nonprofit organization with the mission to foster transportation
behaviors that benefit the community through advocacy, programs, education,
and services. We have had a great 2012 in our shuttle, bike, and walk to school
programs supporting North Natomas residents each commuting step of the
way.
This year the Flyer shuttles were updated to new Compressed Natural Gas ve-
hicles with Wi-Fi, digital way finding signs, and an online estimated arrival
time tracking system. More loops were added to existing routes to enable over
75,000 trips be taken, a 120% increase in trips over 2011.
Our Walk to School Program averaged 897 students weekly during the 2011-
2012 school year, that’s 19% of the student population in participating schools
walking, biking, or scootering to school with parents, friends, and Walking
School Buses. During May is Bike Month students and teachers in nine partici-
pating schools rode 41,950 miles, or approximately 14 trips across the United
States!
During 2012, Bike Doc serviced over 600 bikes. Throughout the year our dedi-
cated bike mechanics fixed cruisers, road bikes, BMX bikes, adult trikes, even
a road bike built for two. They adjusted brakes and chains, removed training
wheels; as well as completed bike fittings, helmet fittings, and saddle fittings
for the residents of North Natomas at community and school events around the
area.
We look forward to an exciting 2013 filled with new programs and local favor-
ites. Stay tuned at NNTMA.org, follow us on Twitter @NorthNatomasTMA,

Tis The Season!
The holiday season is upon us and while we are getting ready to spend time with our friends and families exchanging gifts,
laughs and holiday cheer; thieves are looking to do some holiday shopping of their own except with a five finger discount. We would like to remind our residents to be cautious and safeguard their per-sonal property and packages that will soon be delivered to your doorstep in time for Christmas. Please notify Pala-din Security of any suspicious activity and/or stolen property. Try to have someone home when important pack-ages are scheduled to be delivered. Be
sure to remind your holiday guests to lock their vehicles and not keep any personal property in the car in plain sight, so their holiday visits with you will end on a happy note!

The staff of The Club

would like to wish all
our members a Joyous
Holiday Season and a
Happy New Year! It
has been our pleasure
to serve you and we
look forward to the coming year.
We have two wonderful events this
Holiday Season that are both free to
our members. Pictures with Santa is
scheduled for December 1st from
12:00 pm - 2:00 pm. We have recruit-
ed a professional photographer to take
pictures that can be used for your holi-
day cards. Cookies and punch will
also be served during the event. En-
joy holiday cheer with your NPMA
neighbors at the Member Holiday
Open House scheduled for December
8th at 6:30 pm, complimentary appe-
tizers and champagne eggnog will be
served. Both of these events are for
members only.
We have placed a sign-in sheet at the
front desk for individuals who use the
Lap Pool during the winter months.
Please make sure to sign in so that an
accurate attendance record can be re-
ported back to the Board of Directors
each month.
We would like to give a special
“Thank You” to Scott Lipton who
chaired the Golf League for the past
year. His hard work and effort in
making the 2012 Golf League the best
year yet.
Attendance levels have dropped in
the following free aerobics classes and
are in jeopardy of being cancelled
if attendance does not improve:
Cardio Camp on Tuesdays at 9:00 am,
Core/Abs on Sunday’s at 10:30 am
and Beginning Step on Wednesdays at
5:30 pm. If you enjoy these classes,
please make sure to attend them to
avoid cancellation. The Zumbatomic
class that started this past summer has
been cancelled effective immediately
due to low attendance. The Baby
Boogie Class has also seen their at-
tendance drop. The class is held on
Tuesday & Thursdays at 10:10 am at a
cost of $5 for the first child only $3
for additional children! The Baby
Boogie classes are a great way to
spend time with your child and meet
other parents as well.
Team member Robert Garvin has been
awarded Employee of the Quarter by
his co-workers. Robert was hired this
past summer as a pool monitor, has
been cross trained and is now working
for the Club in multiple capacities.
The Club Committee has seen an in-
crease in member attendance over the
past few months. If you desire to get
involved and have suggestions that
might make The Club even better,
please join us on the second Tuesday
of every month at 6:30pm in the con-
ference room.

N A T O M A S P A R K N e w s
My name is Shirley Walsh and I have
lived in our Natomas Community for
10 years. I decided to join NP90 at
our club because I was out of shape,
in a size 12 and it didn’t feel that I
could meet any of my per-
sonal goals to lose weight
and feel good on my own
using the club’s fitness
machines. The NP90 Fit-
ness Challenge was moti-
vating to me due to the
group setting that allowed
me to feel I could count
on both my instructor and
the team to motivate each
other.
The class provided a nu-
tritional guideline and
held you accountable re-
quiring you to log your
daily food intake, which normally for
me, I prefer not to disclose. I enjoy a
great glass of white wine with my
husband after work and this was my
time to let go of my day. But, I’m
often reminded that if I want to
achieve my goals I need to cut out the
wine.
I have achieved a 15lb
loss in the three month
NP90 class held January
thru March this year and
continues working on my
goal through attendance in
the Tuesday and Thurs-
day for NP90 maintenance
class targeting legs and
arms with Juliette Monser-
ret. I lost a total of 25/lbs
between April and August
2012. I have been work-
ing out on a constant ba-
sis; Monday, Wednesday,
Friday with 1 hour of Car-
dio just like instructed, not to mention
Saturday and Sunday. In addition,
I’ve incorporated a 30 to 40 minute in
workout at the Club and four miles
around the lake with my husband Jay
on the weekends. Yes, I have demon-
strated to my husband if you want to
eat well and feel well and lose weight
you’ll need to endure my program.
My plan is to continue to achieve my
personal and professional goal to feel
and look better. I thank all those who
have supported me during this long
journey. You too can join our group
and feel better.

your property in response to calls and to take reasonable measures to investigate suspicious circumstances.

Paladin Officers Locate Missing Girl
In late September, Paladin Officers were alerted to a reported missing juvenile who
had threatened suicide shortly before disappearing. During their patrols, Paladin offic-
ers located the missing youth inside Elderberry Park off Macon Drive at Maybrook
Drive. Officers remained with the juvenile and immediately notified parental guardi-
ans as well as the Sacramento Police. Once on scene, the Sacramento Police assumed
custody of the juvenile and transported her for evaluation at an area Hospital.
The Tale of the Rascally Wabbits
In early October Paladin officers responded to a loose animal call regarding four do-
mestic rabbits roaming around on Belfont Circle. When Officers arrived on scene
they located three of the animals and began scouring the street for a potential owner.
Officers were successful and contacted the owner as she was arriving home. She re-
ported the rabbits had escaped from their pins. The owner requested help wrangling
up the critters and Officers were happy to help. Immediately they went to work utiliz-
ing a large net supplied by the owner. In all, three of the rabbits were successfully
apprehended, but after an extensive ground search the fourth fugitive remained at
large.
Paladin Alarm Response for Community Residents
This month I want to take the time to discuss Paladin’s alarm response operations
throughout the community as well as recent changes to the city Police and their re-
sponses to false alarms. Over the years, I’ve been regularly asked if Paladin will re-
spond to residential alarms. The answer is YES. Paladin has always offered residen-
tial alarm response to the entire Natomas Park Community at no charge and is a ser-
vice included in our contract with your community.
To setup Paladin Security as a responder just contact your alarm monitoring company
and provide them the phone number to our dispatch center “916-331-3175”. I highly
recommend having us placed fairly high on the call priority as our response time is
typically within a five minute time frame and even if the call is false, you still won’t
be charged. This is unlike the service offered by the Police Department, which will
result in fees after only two false alarms within a calendar year. As of October 1st, it’s
important to know that these fees imposed by the city have also been increased.
What you should know: A- In the event of alarm activation, responding Paladin Officers will investigate the
circumstances for the activation and act upon the situation presented. If evidence of
forced entry or an unsecured entry point is found, Paladin Officers may make entry into
the residence to verify if a crime has been committed and ensure the well being of occu-
pants.
B- Should an intrusion or crime be found, our ability to contact you is dependent on
your responsibility to contact our office during the activation. I encourage residents to
call our dispatch line and request to have the responding Officer call them back. This
can help lay your concerns to rest and also allow our staff the ability to contact you if
needed.
C- If an activation occurs, but a disarm code is received or you call to cancel
our response, please understand Paladin Officers will typically still respond to
ensure you or your loved ones were not forced to cancel the response.
