The   New   Jersey   Department   of   Transportation   (NJDOT)   –   Bureau   of  Mobility  and  System  Engineering  (BMSE)  is  initiating  activities  to  develop  and   deploy   improvements   to   its   statewide   Intelligent   Transportation  System  (ITS)  infrastructure.  These  improvements  will  be  developed  under  NJDOT’s  Smart  Moves  2013  program  and  will  augment  the  capabilities  of  the  existing  ITS  system  on  roadways  under  state  jurisdiction  through  the  addition   of   ITS   Devices   including   Closed   Circuit   Television   Cameras  (CCTV),  Camera  Surveillance  Systems  (CSS).  

Naik  Consulting  Group,  P.C.  (NAIK)  is  performing  field  investigations,  data  collection,   physical   conditions   assessment,   plan   sheet   mapping,   ITS  facilities   plans   (6   locations   and   project   specifications,   estimate   and  schedules  to  support  proposed  improvements.  Work  is  being  performed  based   on   the   NJDOT   ITS   Interim   Guidelines   to   prepare   Final   Design  documentation   and   the   Designer   Plans,   Specifications   and   Estimate  (PS&E).  Naik   is  also  providing  all   surveying  and  basemapping   for   the   ITS  infrastructure   improvements.   Work   includes   establishing   the   primary  horizontal   and   vertical   control   points   for   the   project   and   supplying   a  control   report   with   a   narrative   description   of   the   survey  methodology,  survey   adjustments   and   sketches   for   each   of   the   control   points   in  accordance   with   NGS   procedures   for   GPS   survey   and   grid   and   ground  coordinates.     The   primary   control   was   established   utilizing   GPS   in   the  North  American  Datum  1983   (NAD83)   and   the  North  American  Vertical  Datum   1988   (NAVD88),   topographic   and   planimetric,   reflectorless,   and  baseline  survey,     profile  and  cross  sections  for  highways,  and  establishing  existing  baseline  data  for  final  basemaps.
