flexibility, reliab ility an d func tiona lity
are paramount.
Cellular backhaul
In area s w ith dens e cellular coverag e,
network operators can experience
CAPEX sa vings by deploying fixedw ireless ba ckhaul to the bas e sta tions.
In a ddition, OPEX will also be
significantly reduced, since the to tal
number of radios to be operated is
reduced to almost ha lf the number
req uired in trad itiona l w ireless
backhaul.
Corpora te fee ding

Nera MultiLink system components
Nera MultiLink I and III both share the
sa me ba sic configuration. This consists
of base s tation indoor and outdoor
units and terminal station indoor and
outdoor units.
Nera MultiLink I ba se units
The Nera MultiLink I ba se st a tion is
structured on a multiple ba se unit
principle. This ena bles the deploym ent
of a multiple carrier scheme providing
ea ch ca rrier w ith a 1.75 MHz slice of
the spectrum. Each ba se unit connects
the bas e sta tion backbone to the IF
MUX which in turn connects via a
single c oa xial ca ble to the RF unit
and antenna.
Nera MultiLink I terminal units
Typically insta lled a t the cust om er site,
the t erminal units deliver a w ide range
of data and voice services betw een
the base stat ion and customer
te rminals. The term inal indoor unit (IDU)
is eas ily connec ted t o the RF unit a nd
antenna by a single coaxial cable.
The IDU is e xtremely compa ct and ca n
be rack mounted, w all mounted or sit
discreetly on a desk top.
Up to three telecom interfaces can
be provided, co vering E1, V35/X21,
Ethe rnet 10/100Bas eT a nd ISDN-BRI.
Nera MultiLink III base units
The Nera MultiLink III ba se st a tion is a
single, sta nda rd ETSI she lf w ith 16 slots
and supports a traffic capacity of up to
3.5 Gbps. The 16 slots in this highly
flexible unit can be customised to meet
the specific service and network needs
of individual custom ers. Connectivity
follow s the sa me system as Nera
MultiLink I. The b a se st a tion is a lso
ava ilable in a sta nd-alone unit forsmaller system configurations.
This gives a very com petitive so lution
w ith a low entry cost for a system .
Nera MultiLink III terminal units
Whilst it sha res the s am e bene fits o f
compact size and simple installation as
Nera MultiLink I, this unit has a grea te r
interfac e ca pa city. The Nera MultiLink III
IDU is e quipped w ith one 10/100 Ba se T
and four or eight E1 interface s.
