Introduction
eading is a good way of getting knowledge. It should be introduced in
earlychildhood, hence it becomes a habit in people's lifestyle' To encourage children
to love reading, we provide interesting stories tn a fable series' \We believe that antmal
kingdom stories have their own attractiveness to amuse children with fantastic stories'
Thus, children are also encoufaged to build their own fantasies, to open their mind
to knoivledge and different views, and to have in their soul good moral values that
are always enriching every story.
.aY)n e upon a rime, Mrs. Fish, M1. Frog and Mr. Crab lived peacefully
in a big and lopely lake. They always helped each other. For instance' every
time Mrs. Fish started la.yingeggs, Mr. crab always helped Mrs. Fish to dig
rhe bank of rhe river to tdy eggs and hatch them. After the fish eggs hatched,
the grass that was used as a nest became a deliciou.s meal for Mr. Crab. Mr.
Frog was also their best frien d. ltrVhenever thelake water was rising, Mr. Frog
played with them joyfully. Moreover, when it rained, Mr.Frog would sing
happily with his melodious voice to make his friends happy.
One day, itwas drizzlingallday. So, it was time for Mr. Frog and Mr.
Crab to have some fun.

Th.y sang and danced
together happily. They didnot realize thatMr.Stork, their €fl€rn/,m,,i
was watching them,He had perched in a mango
tree for a while. He waited for theright time to sa)oop down and seize
Mr. Frog. Because of Mr. Crab'salertness, Mr. Frog was not in danger.
"There is a stork, anatch outl Qtickly tell Mis. Fish that there is a danger,"Mr. Crab loudly shouted.
only with three jumps, Mr. Frog jumped into the bank of the lake.Because of that, Mr. Stork was not successful. He was very angry. He left thelake and fleu a@ay.
"Look. \When the time comes, I will not let you live. I will eat all of you!"murmured Mr. Stork.
"Mr. Crab saw Mr. Stork's action through the grass. After he was surethat Mr. Stork had gone, he was relieaed. He walked freely into the lake. He
diaed in, in ordcr to tell his beloved friends that it was safe. Happily, the ;,
three good friends swam to the surface.
"'W'e are safe. Thanks a lot Mr. Crab, mI best friend,' Mrs. Fish said softly
and there were tear drops on her cheeks.
"It is all right, my friend. That is what friends are for!" Mr. Crab
answered and gave his friends a warm smile to show his love.
On the contrary, Mr. Stork was very angry. He had been tryingso many
times to break their friendship but he always failed."I have to succeed," he said angrily. In his mind , he kept on thinking
about the delicious fish.
"Should I dive into tbe bottom of the lake to catch them?" he wondered.
"\[ell. It is impossible anryay.I will die because I cannot breatbe in the
water," argued himself.
"DAmn Crab!" he said.
"If he had not been here, surely, I could have eaten them a11."
He kepr on thinking to find the best and the safestway to kill the fish
and the frog. After a few moments, he said happily.
"Bingo. I have found it! I have found it!Enthusiastically, he went back to the mango tree and s?ng,
"Lalala..,. lala... hm... hm..

That was the Stork's
song.
Having heard the ' '
songr the three close
friends were
wondering.
"\Vhat is happening to Mr. Stork? He looks so happy rcdayl'Mrs. Fish
said.
"He must have found a trick, to deceiae us," Mr. Crab said'
"But Ireally s/ant to know why he is singing so happily. Do you dare ask
him why?" Mrs. Fish urged Mr. Frog.
"Don'r do that my friend. It is dangerous for Mr. Frog because he does
not have any defence. Look! I have two powerful pincers to fight against him
if he dares disturb us." Mr. Crab asswred his close friends.
\flith all of his legs, Mr. Crab swam to the
surface of the water.
"Hi Stork! \flhat is happening? You look
h"ppy today.I heard you were singing
happily?
M. Crab asked curiowsly
"Look Crab! Am I mean? Of course not'
he... he... he. I aman honest animal. Don't you
see the trutb in my song?" Mr. Stork re:marked
proudly."The song means
nothing!' Mr.Crab argued.
"Hi, Crab!
Don't be
angry.
Justthink
Wffi
ffi,
about it!
If today is Sunday, tornorrow will be Monday
, and tbe dq oftt, tomorrou will be Tuesday
If today is .Tuesday, tomorrow will be \Tednesday
and the day after tomorrow will be Thursday
If today ib Thursday, tomorrow will be Friday
and the day after tomorrow will be Saturday
If today is Saturday, tomorrow will be Sunday
and the day after tomorrow will be Monddy,
and so on...
Is my song nothing? I don't think so. It is really meaningful for us. Isn't
that correct? he... he.. he...." Mr. Stork laughed happily.
Having heard the word "rrs", Mr. Crab thought that Mr. Stork wanted to
be friends. But, he was still doubtful.
" tWhy do you use "us"?" Mr. Crab asked.
"Aren't we friends?'Mr. Stork said.
"\flhat about Mr. Frog and Mrs. Fishi" Mr. Crab asked again.
The words "Frog' and "Fish" made Mr. Stork feel hungry. Quickly, he
answered Mr. Crab's question.
"Of course they are my friends. A11 your friends are my friends too," Mr. Stork en-
thusiastic ally r emarked.
"You are lying, Mr. Storkl B1t tbe wEt, why did you sing the song?" asked
Mr. Crab ^gatn.
"Dont you see that there are rrrany clouds? It will start raining in the north, Ithirck. The water w,il,Jkod all of the rivers, lakes, and pools in this arca. The worst thitgis that all of the water animals will die because of the flood," he said somewhat
sadly.
He kept telling Mr. Crab.
"Fortanatefi I am not a 'u/ater antmal. If the disaster comes, I will fly as far as Ican to the South. I will be free from the danger and still be able to live on Sunday,
Monday, Tuesday, \Wednesdax Thursday, Friday and Saturday. That is why I am
singing. There is a hope for me to live on those days," he said.
Hearing of the coming disaster, Mr. Crab was very woried and shocked. He
walkedforwards and backwards. Actually, he wanted to run as fast as he could but he
always remembered his friend.
"How cruel I am, if I let them die. Oh my God! I don't v/ant to let that hap-
pen to them. I have to save.them. But, how can I save them?" Mr. Ctab questioned
himself.
Mr. Crab thought hard. He looked.tp to the sky. The shady tree binderedhis
sight. He could not see the cloud well. He was so hopeless and almost in despair.
"}jri, Crab! You look so disturbed. Wbat is up? I am your best friend, aren't I?
Please, tell me your problem. I will try to help you solue it," Mr. Strok pretended to
:comforthtm.
"Lucky Stork. \Would you please help my friends?" Mr. Crab asked bunbfi.
"Who arc they?" Mr Strok's scheming mind asked.
"Mrs. Fish and Mr. Frog, of course!" shouted Mr. Ctab.
Mr. Crab started crying. Slowly he wiped the tears from his cheeks. On the
contr^ry,Mr. Stork's heart was content. He has succeeded to trap Mr. Crab.He inag-
ined the soft and, fresh meat of the fish and the frog.
"Of course. \flhy not? It is really the time I have been waiting for. I want to do
sood deeds to other antmal. Moreouer, your close friends arc my friends," NIr. Stork
said with bright shiningeyes.
"You are ^
real good friend. Thanks a lot for. your help. I will rell themabout the coming disaster," Mr. Crab said calmly.
Suddcnly, Mr. Crab dived into the lake. FIe was inahurry because he waseager to tell his friends. Once, he arrived at the bottom of the lake. He told hisfriends about the coming disaster. Mrs. Fish and Mr. Frog were frightenedbut they were nor sure about Mrl Stork' kindness.
"I think we have to do something. Mr. Crab will swim up ro rhe surfaceif the situation is safe. Mrs. Fish
"rrdl will come wp laterafter Ur. Crab is
sure that there is no danger," Mr. Frog
proposed.
"OK, friends, I will follow yoursugestion," said Mr. Crab.
At the same time, Mr. Stork came
down from the mango tree. He stepped
ly towards the edge of the lake. He ffiedone of his legs. He was ready to catch those who
up to the surface of the water. He stared
seriously at the surface of the water.
"It is the end of your life,
foolish animals!" he uhispered.
D The surface of the water
started to move. Mr. Stork kept
staring at it. His appetite was getting
bigger.
Suddenly, Mr. Stork suooped and
seized a creature that came up. Because of
the sudden attack, Mr. Crab pincbed the '
Stork's leg tightly. Realizinghisstupidiry, Mr. Stork, released the
creatvre, so did Mr. Crab. Mr. Stork
felt worried."I am really sorr/, friend! I did not mean to burt you. I was in a hurry to
save you." said Mr. Stork in order to concealhis carelessness. But his left leg
was becoming sorer and sorer. Since then, Mr. Stork always stood on one leg
only. FIe even walked as tf crippled,. Knowing the fact, Mr. Crab felt verysorry for him and apologized many times.
"Look, Crab! The sky is getting darker. \7here are Mrs. Fish and Mr.Frog? Don't they realize?" asked Mr. Stork.
The water moved
again. Soon, lldr. Frog held
his head out of the water. In arnornenL Mrs. Fish appeared.
"I cannot carr)) the three of you at
once. Therefore,I will save the weakest one first, namely Mrs. Fish. The
second is Mr. Frog and the last is lou, Mr. Crab!" the scheming Mr. Stork
said.
"I will take you all to avery nice place in the South," promisedMr. Stork.
They believed Mr. Stork and let him do everything he wanted to do.
Slowly, Mr. Stork lifted Mrs. Fish in his beak. Mrs. Stork did not take her to
the other lake but ate her. Before reaching Mr. Stork's stomaclt, she shed a
single tedr.
Mr. Frog was take n the next. He felt really h^ppy when Mr. Stork lifted
his body. Soon, all of his happiness disappeared. The only thing he could do
was pra,y. He could not do anything when that cruel Stork started szaallowsing
him."It is your turn my beloved Crabl Your friends are living peacefully
somewhere. I am the only animal who knows where they are. Later, you willarrioe at that looely lake too. Now, let me take you to that place. But, you
have to hold on to my neck. My legs are not strong enough to lift you," Mr.
Stork persuaded him.\Without being suspicious, at last, Mr. Crab obqted Mr. Stork's order. He
was really surprised hearing Mr. Stork's,words.
"Foolish Crab! At last, I can deceirse you. I will d*p you on the coral.
Your body will be shattered cornpletely. You will die following your friends,"
Mr. Stork said somewhat proudly
"You are very cruel, Mr. Stork! \Vhere are they?" shouted Mr. Crab withanger.
"Touch my stomach, Crab! You will know where they are,'remarked
Mr. Stork happily.
Mr. Crab touched Mr. Stork's stomach.
"My God!!! You have killed them all. For the sake of my friendship, I willkill you."
Mr. Crab toreMr.Stork's stomach. \When the rip was large, his dead
friends, Mrs. Fish and Mr. Frog, fell down from Mr. Stork's stomach.
Because of the painful riP, Mr.
Stork could not fly suaight. He bit
his tongue andtried not to think
about his pain. He fell down and
his body srnashed on the
ground. The rip bled terriblY.
The cruel Stork bled to
death. Mr. Crab was
satisfi.ed. After that,
he uept over his
beloved
friends' dead
bodies.
