Motorised zone valvesZ-oneseries 642 - 643
Function
The zone valves allow the automatic shut-off of circuits in heatingand air conditioning systems.
The series 642 (two-way) and 643 (three-way) zone valves areequipped with a spring return actuator with a synchronous motorand auxiliary microswitch. They are therefore extremely versatileand suitable for use in both heating and air conditioning systems.
The actuator is fitted with a mechanism for rapidly clipping it ontothe body of the valve which also makes it easy to remove.

Operating principle
With the electrical supply off, the actuator keeps the valve in theclosed position. When an ambient temperature thermostat or otherelectrical device switches the supply on, the actuator moves thepaddle into the open position. When the supply is turned off, the valve closes again due to theaction of a return spring.
Construction details
• Auxiliary microswitchThe actuator is fitted with a microswitch to operate devices such as,for example, a circulating pump. The microswitch comes on whenthe valve is 60% open.
• Manual openingThe valve can be opened manually by movingthe lever to lock open position. When thepower is re s t o red the manual control isautomatically overr i d d e n .
• Clip on actuatorA rapid clip-on system makes it easy toremove it from the body of the valve formaintenance or replacement operations.Warning: the actuator can only be usedwith valve bodies 642 and 643 series.
• OperationThe actuator is fitted with a special mechanism for gradualmovement of the valve paddle which prevents judder and vibrationdue to the inertia of the gearmotor.

Installation
- The valve can be fitted either vertically or horizontally, with the actuator in any position, except upside down.
- When installed inside a casing it is important to ensure that there isadequate ventilation inside the casing itself.
- The three-way valve cannot be transformed into a two-way valve and viceversa.
- When zone valves are installed, the correct direction of flow must beobserved as shown in the diagrams below.
- Two-way zone valves can be installed on both the flow and return sides;the direction of flow indicated by the arrow on the body of the valve mustbe observed.

Removal of the actuator
1. Set the lever on the side of the actuator to the openposition (or to manual opening).
2. Press the open button on the side of the actuatorand remove the actuator.
Fitting of the actuator
1. Set the lever on the side of the actuator to the open position (or manual opening).
2. Check that the actuator is correctly positioned with respect to the valve as determined by the different dimensions of the operating stem and the locking pin.
3. P ress the open button fully down. Clip on theactuator and release the button.
