Hi. I’m Betty
Scrivner. I've
been coming to
Senior Commu-
nity Center
now for several
years. It’s so
nice to have
such a happy
place to hang out during the day.
I appreciate the Senior Center van giving
me transpiration to and from the Senior
Center. I wouldn’t be able to come if not
for the SCC Van
A little about me. I have 4 wonderful chil-
dren, several grandchildren, and about 10
great grandchildren. I have
always been all about family, and always
had family events throughout the years.
My husband was a Baptist Minister and also
worked for Proctor & Gamble.
I was an assistant in a dental office, worked
in a Dr’s office, spent many years as a pre-
school teacher, and then a receptionist at
Seattle Memorial.
I find joy in every day living, and really nev-
er know a stranger. Conversations are my
specialty, sometimes a bit silly, sometimes
very serious, but none the less, I’m good
company!
So Please say hi to me when you see me, I
will always say Hi back!

My name is Jeannie Pen-
rod. I’m married to Larry
Penrod and we own a
small business. We have
two daughters, Ginger,
married to David with
Andrew (14) and Jamie
(11) she lives in Canton,
Georgia. Jordan married
to Jordan and she lives
in Lexington, Kentucky.
Larry and I go to Pleas-
ant Valley Community
Church and I teach a Bible study every Friday night. We love
all kinds of animals!! We love to spend our free time playing
with our cats. We have two Bengals, which are half
domestic cat and half Asian Leopard. They’re extremely en-
ergetic and climb on everything because Leopards live in
trees. My husband likes to build toys and play places for
them.
Two years ago, I was volunteering as a GRABC tax
preparer at the Senior Center. After the tax season ended, I
inquired with Dana, the director, about volunteering at the
Senior Center. The bookkeeper position opened just a month
after I had started volunteering, so Dana offered me the po-
sition. That was in May of 2018. I really love working at the
Senior Center and hope I’m doing my small part to keep it
great for our Seniors, because they deserve it!

Meet our Book Keeper & Jeannie Penrod
Meet our Executive Assistant Ann Haynes
I was born and raised in
Owensboro, Kentucky.
God blessed me with the
most loving and sup-
portive parents, Ed and
Sadie Barrass and a sister,
Beth. I am very close to
my family and have had
the opportunity to devel-
op close relationships with my grandparents and parents as
friends in my later years.
God blessed me again with 2 amazing children, David, age 29
and Sarah, age 26. David is an entrepreneur who owns busi-
nesses with Escape games, ax throwing, arcades, a smash up
room and soon to open a brewery in 2020. Sarah is an Assistant
General Manager having opened the newest Fairfield Inn Hotel
in the Cincinnati area. She is currently enrolled in the Northern
Kentucky University Masters in Business Administration online
program. They just moved out of the house this year so I’m also
experiencing the empty nest syndrome again. I’m not loving it so
far!
I received my undergraduate degree in Social Work from the
University of Kentucky where I was also a member of Chi Ome-
ga. I later obtained my Masters Degree in Education and Coun-
seling from Western Kentucky University. I worked for the state
of Kentucky for over 30 years, 4 years in Child and Adult Protec
tive Services and 26+ years for the Office of Vocational Rehabili-
tation. I retired in 2016 and have kept busy working part time
jobs for my son, 2 Interior decorators and now the Senior Com-
munity Center.
Some of my hobbies include traveling, aerobics, Tabata, yoga,
hiking, walking, bicycling, and kayaking. After multiple injuries
last year, I have become wiser and gained more insight and ap-
preciation for my aging body and retired from running and pick-
leball. I don’t mind losing, but I’m just a little too competitive
with myself.
I think the 2 most rewarding things I have experienced are being
a mother and having had the privilege of taking care of my par-
ents and best friends. My parents have since passed away and I
miss them every single day. It’s been a very difficult season in
my life with many major adjustments, but God continues to
bless me with wonderful friends, co-workers, and family and has
allowed me to grow in my faith every step of the way. He has
led me to the Senior Community Center where I have a strong
desire to work with the aging population. I am on the cusp of
that group myself at 58 ½ years young. Seniors are a people
with a great wealth of knowledge, wisdom, humor and friend-
ship. They have so much to give and share if we encourage and
show that we still need them. As a matter of fact, the first day
at the Senior Community Center I discovered that my father
served on the first Board of Directors on the Aging Counsel. I
knew then that this was where I needed to be at this season in
my life. I feel privileged to work at the Senior Community Cen-
ter. I enjoy helping others and feel I am blessed 10 fold when I do.
