The meals of the day

French people love eating !

We love food and we enjoy cooking !

Breakfast

In the morning, we have breakfast.

We sometimes drink orange juice .

But we prefer hot drinks such as cocoa, coffee and tea.

Most of us have French bread ( baguette) with butter, chocolate spread « Nutella », jam, cereals.

Lunch First, there is a starter : pâté, eggs, mixed salads, raw vegetables…

Then, a main course that includes meat or fish and cooked vegetables.

Then, we have cheese .

Finally, dessert : fruit, yoghurt, pudding or a

cake (on Sundays).

Our favourites

Pasta with chicken

Cheese and yoghurt

Chocolate cake with strawberry

FridaysOn Fridays, we traditionally eat fish because Jesus was

crucified on a Friday and, therefore, eating « flesh » was forbidden.

Of course, things are changing as people are less religious nowadays and school dinners have to conform to

secularism in our country.

5 o'clock tea

After school , we have a snack :

we love bread with Nutella spread (chocolate cream

and hazelnuts )

Yummy !!

Dinner

In the evening, we often eat home made soup;

We mix mashed vegetables : carrots, potatoes, leeks, onions, parsnips etc …

For dinner, we also eat pizza and quiche Lorraine with salad.

Quiche : a French Favourite !

In the summer

Chicken, sausages, pork or lamb chops

hamburgers, beef steak

We often eat salads and barbecue.

To give a little more flavor to our meat, we eat it with sauces like : Ketchup, Mayonnaise, Tartare, Béarnaise. Vinaigrette is for salads.

Our favourite dressings

Recipe n° 2: Vinaigrette

40 cl olive oil 20 cl red wine vinegar 20 cl water (optional) 20 cl strong mustard 1 tablespoon salt 1 tablespoon pepper

To save time, I prepare the vinaigrette pouring all the ingredients into the blender graduated jar :

No need to measure, just pour and stir !

French cheeseAfter the main dish and before dessert , we eat cheese, either after lettuce or with it.
