Pre-reading
Discrimination of people existed
at many times in history and in
many places around the world.
While in 1933-1945, Nazi Germany had hatred for the Jews. As a result, many of them were put in prison and finally lost their lives there.
While in 1863-1964, slavery was abolished in the US, but there were still racial discrimination laws in southern states. We can see a bus conductor who puts up a sign that the waiting room for bus passengers is only for white people.
Racial discrimination also existed in South Africa in 1948-1990. Black people couldn’t be treated with respect and had no rights to vote, receive education and live as they wished. We can see a black man who shows his passport.
