Important Message:
Car Rider Line Safety
Parents: In the morning as you approach the car rider line, it is very important that you pull your vehicle all the way forward to the front of the line (end of sidewalk near the bus lot) before stopping to let your child/ children out. Some students prefer to enter at the front of the building, while others prefer the side entrance. However, for safety reasons, everyone must pull up all the way forward and once the line stops moving, then your
child needs to exit your vehicle.
Also, all visitors must sign in at the front office and get a visitor badge before proceeding down either hallway. This is
also part of our safety protocol.
Thank you in advance for helping to keep our students safe by following our safety procedures.

Staff Spotlight for March
Hometown: Washington, New Jersey
Favorite restaurant: Mexicasa in Harrisburg – I love the Steak Burrito!
Where did you teach before Fairview: Rocky River Elementary in Monroe for 8 years
College: Centenary College in Hackettstown, NJ for Business Administration, North Carolina Central University in Durham, NC for Masters in Library Science
City you would like to visit: Washington, DC – I visited in 4th grade but I do not remember much other than visiting the White House. I would like to visit as an adult so that I can truly appreciate the museums and monuments.
Name of your favorite teacher in elementary school: Mrs. Singer, 5th grade and Mrs. Paddfield, School Librarian
Favorite sport/team to watch: Much to the disappointment of my husband and 2 sons, I do not watch sports. I like historical shows on PBS, HGTV and reality talent shows (The Voice and America’s Got Talent).
Why you became a media specialist?: I have been a reader my whole life. I was able to walk to my public library when I was young and would visit weekly for a new stack of books. When I was presented with the opportunity to work in a school where Icould promote and encourage students to read, I knew that it was the right path for me. I love talking about books and introducing new books/authors to students. I love when they return a book and say, “I LOVED this book, Mrs. Shulman, thank you!” I can’t imagine doing anything else!
Favorite thing to do when not at school: I love to garden. I have an obnoxious hill in my backyard that I am hoping to cover in trees, bushes and grasses. I also love to plant fruits, vegetables and herbs. I never harvest much of anything but I try everyyear.
Most rewarding part about being a teacher: I love interacting with all students of the school and getting to know them as readers.
Silliest fact about you: I would love to be a singing sensation and be in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Preferably a singing sensation IN the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Mr. Hawkins is a fantastic volunteer. He can be found weekly at Fairview Elementary doing multiple tasks. He loves to read stories to our students as well as make copies for our teachers. You can even find him in the Media Center shelving books. His kind and gentle spirit brings joy to our hallways. We are so thankful to have
such a caring volunteer at our school.
