Make a GIANT Difference…
Host a FEED A HUNGRY GIANT Food Drive in Your Store!
Getting Started
Order copies of HOW DO YOU FEED A HUNGRY GIANT? (978-0-7611-5752-6; 4-copy counter display 978-0-7611-6634-4) Stack ’em up in a high-traffic spot in the store next to a designated food drive area (where you’ll place your donation box and signage)!
Contact your sales rep or call 1-800-722-7202 about our promotional offers, discounts, and $75 in co-op to cover any event expenses.
Set a beginning and end date for your food drive. One idea: Plan the drive for the days that lead up to Thanksgiving, a time of year when many people are eager to give.
Find a local food bank to partner with. Discuss specifics like what types of food are needed, and arrange for a pickup of the collected donation.
Request a free Hungry Giant collection box for your store’s donations (E-mail us at promotions@workman.com to order!) Tape a large envelope inside the box for cash and check donations.
Plan a big kickoff event to build excitement for the drive! Host an afternoon of fun activities and projects for kids (keep reading this kit for ideas!), and invite all participants to bring a can or box of food to get donations started.
Publicize your food drive—and the kickoff event! Download* our event announcement poster to display in your store window. Include details in your store’s e-mail newsletter, and spread the word on your website, Facebook, and Twitter. See if other local businesses will get involved and partner with you.

Throw a FEED A HUNGRY GIANT Food Drive
Kickoff Party!Invite all the kids in your community to take part in a launch event. Urge them to bring a can or box of food to get things going. Organize activities, projects,
and games to make joining the effort extra-fun.
Suggested Activities

Hold a HOW DO YOU FEED A HUNGRY GIANT? book raffle—each donation earns a raffle ticket.
Give the kids drawing and coloring sheets inspired by the book.
Pre-make and serve some of the Hungry Giant recipes in the front of the book (Those big portions are perfect for feeding a group of hungry kids!).
Draw an outline of a giant on a large piece of butcher paper. Hang it on a wall near the collection box/book display, and invite kids to color in a piece for each can/box of food they bring, just like the “thermometer” image used for fundraising events!
Create a huge pyramid of cans/boxes donated and have kids guess the number of items used.
Award each child a donation certificate filled out with his/her name; early good-doing makes for future good-doing!
