Newspaper and Magazine Publications
My first author paper, “Seeing Everyone Else's Highlight Reels: How Facebook Usage is
Linked to Depressive Symptoms” received substantial news coverage. This research was
featured in Forbes, the Washington Post, the Boston Globe, USA Today, Sky News, and more
than 380 other media outlets around the world. The UH media relations office distributed a
report indicating that the media publicity was worth $17 million in ad value worldwide (the
amount the university would have paid for similar publicity). In addition, I was asked to write
two op-ed pieces for the Conversation and the Houston Chronicle and also co-authored an op-
ed piece for an international magazine, RuiZi.
