Little Prince park (Petit Prince), FranceBarco projectors help the Little Prince come to life …
The Little Prince, that smart, blond boy created by Antoine de Saint Exupéry, has
been inspiring numerous people around the world, over the past eighty years. Did
you know that besides comic books, musicals, operas, movies, games and a Lego
character, there’s also a Little Prince theme park? Located in a beautiful, peaceful
landscape in the French Alsace region, the aeronautical park invites its visitors
to get aboard hot-air balloons, enjoy fun attractions and discover the universe of
the Little Prince. Theme park expert Tejix equipped the parks’ two movie theaters
with Barco RLM projectors to bring the story of the Little Prince and his originator
pilot/writer Saint Exupéry to life.

“It’s great to see our balloon installations at, for example, Disney World in Orlando or Disneyland in Paris,” says Matthieu Gobbi. “Today, we are, of course, even more excited about the three Aérophile balloons, including our brand-new aerial bar, at our own theme park in Ungersheim.” Located about 20 kilometers from Mulhouse, in eastern France, the small town of Ungersheim had been home to a rather unsuccessful amusement park since 2006. Gobbi and Giacomoni decided to convert it into the Little Prince park: “The park was set in a wonderful scenery, totally surrounded by nature and was just perfect to host a few of our balloons. The theme of the Little Prince perfectly matched our passion for balloons, fl ying, the universe, etc.”
Outstanding services
On 1 January 2014, the Aérophile directors became the owners of the park. They wanted it to open in a mere six months’ time. Tejix, a French expert in system development, design and consulting for theme parks, offered the requisite expertise. Tejix’s director Henry Corrado: “As we knew each other from previous projects, Matthieu and Jérôme entrusted us with the technical side of their project, including the design and installation of a 3D theater and a large-screen movie house.” Tejix chose Barco’s RLM projectors to provide the bright, crisp images that were needed: “In fact, we had been using projectors from a Barco competitor in the past, but we were not that satisfi ed with their services,” Corrado admits. “Barco soon proved that they combine fi rst-quality projectors with excellent after-sales services.”
Flawless image quality
Tejix installed two 8,000 lumens RLM-W8 projectors at the 3D theater where the NWave movie ‘The Little Prince’ is shown. The large-screen movie house features an 11,500 lumens RLM-W12 projector. Both projector types provide fl awless image quality and enhanced contrast. Moreover, they are near silent, reliable and easy to maintain. “I was happy to hear that Tejix suggested using Barco solutions, as Barco is a benchmark within the industry. We are really impressed with the image quality, the ease-of-use and the Barco services. We’ve had loads of positive feedback from our visitors,” Gobbi concludes. Henry Corrado and his team, for their part, are so satisfi ed that they’re currently installing RLM projectors at two new theme parks in Asia. To be continued …

‘Make your life a dream and a dream
a reality’ is one of the most famous
quotes from the Little Prince novel. It
might just as well be the leitmotif of
Matthieu Gobbi and Jérôme Giacomoni,
who set up the Little Prince park in 2014.
Both passionate about balloons and
eager to share that fascination, Gobbi
and Giacomoni founded a small balloon
company, Aérophile, in 1993. Now,
twenty years later, Aérophile is a world
leader in tethered helium balloons, with
over 75 balloons sold in 30 countries and
fi xed balloon installations in the world’s
largest amusement parks. The Petit
Prince park may well be another dream
come true, for Gobbi and Giacomoni, as
their park – the very fi rst aeronautical
theme park in the world – is a great
success!
We are really impressed with the image quality,
the ease-of-use and the Barco services. We’ve had loads of positive feedback
