OBJECTIVES:

▪Identify and describe the reproductive parts of plants.

▪Label the parts of a flower.

▪Differentiate perfect from imperfect flower and complete from incomplete flower.

Parts of a flower

Petal

➢ The colored part of the flower.

➢ For attraction and protection.

Corolla

➢ The collective term for many petals.

Ovary

➢ An enlarged part, usually found at the bottom, which later on becomes the fruit.

Sepal

➢ Small, green, leaf-like structures that protects the ovary.

Ovule

➢ The structure that later on becomes the seeds.

➢ The egg cell of the flower.

Style

➢ The tube where pollen passes through to the ovary.

Stigma

➢ Located above the style.➢ It is where pollen sticks.

Anther

➢ Structure that contains the pollen grains.

Filament

➢ The stalk that holds the anther.
